Elevators
http://blog.ricklapointe.com/post/234089950/elevators
This morning as I waited for the elevator, I thought once again - how hard is it to program elevators with some thought of how they will be used? There are three elevators and only four floors in my building, and it seems every morning when I come in, I press the call button and wait for an elevator. Mind you, not one of the elevators is being used at that point, they are just not on the ground floor. It seems this is not that complicated. November 05, 2009. Infin; Short URL.
"Tell me your strengths"

Ldquo;Tell me your strengths”. Recently linked to an article. That claims the interview question “Why should we hire you? Rdquo; is a bad question - the author calls it a “waste of time” and “pointless”. In all fairness to Roberto, he posted the link for further discussion, not to agree with the article. It certainly got me thinking though. So how do you demonstrate hunger? In a short 30 minute interview, how do you show an employer that you really want to work for their company? Rdquo; or any other seem...
How can a loving God let bad things happen?

How can a loving God let bad things happen? CC image courtesy of. Flickr user onkel wart. My wife’s father is very sick, and she is understandably distressed right now. She’s also wondering how a good God, who supposedly loves us, could let this happen. Everyone in her family is Christian and we are Christians; doesn’t being a follower of Christ mean that life is always full of goodness, love, light, and joy? Well, not exactly. We listened to a message. The fact is, we live in a broken world, and this is...

And of course, in between driving around in Italy you have to stop and eat gelato! November 04, 2009. I recently married my best friend and soulmate, and we had our honeymoon in Rome and Tuscany. I took this picture at sunset from the grounds of Castello di Brolio. One of our favorite parts of the honeymoon was just driving around and looking at beautiful scenery like this. November 04, 2009. How does getting punched in the face remind me of my faith? In three years of learning Krav Maga, I’ve been punched in the face countless times. But when I am not in constant training, I find myself forgetting to do the basics. I stand flat in front of my opponent and get kicked where it hurts. I lose stamina and I get tired more quickly. I don’t move my head and I get punched in the face. When I’m working on these constantly, I find they become second nature, and I get very close to God. I see...When I&...

Agivator | Food, flying, skiing, and whatever else I think of.
Food, flying, skiing, and whatever else I think of. Airline Ticket Prices Are Wacky. May 28, 2012. I just returned from a trip to Australia and Japan. When I first priced the trip, it looked like it was going to cost about $6,000 traveling on the most discounted economy fares. However, there was one routing that stood out. It cost only $2,000. Here it is. Yes, by flying much farther you can pay a lot less. Look it up on FlightAware. This pricing model is a “look at the trees and ignore the forest&#...

Designing the Middle – Thoughts on design and experience
Thoughts on design and experience. UX Bookclub Belfast, Feb 2018. This time round we had Donna Lichaw (@dlichaw) talking about her book The User’s Journey: Storymapping Products that People Love. Donna has a background in screenwriting, and carried over the idea of mapping out story from the world of film as she transitioned into products. In the book we’re offered examples from film and TV (Back to the Future and Breaking Bad fwiw), then examples of how that transposes to design. Be a formula for ambigu...
