Jaime Tiongson, RIHS president, said that Dr. Arturo Corpuz, author of The Colonial Iron Horse (UP Press, 1999), was scheduled to be on Manolo Quezon’s ANC program The Explainer on Tuesday July 22. Thursday, May 28, 2009. Reese members Karel Brouwers, Alberto Nual and Brad Peadon visited PNR Caloocan workshop last March 27, 2009 and were able to observe and document the on-going rehabilitation of a deluxe carriage. The carriage will serve as the model for future rehabilitation work. The carriage will have reclining seats, overhead compartment bins, comfort rooms and amenities that will give Bicol bus operators a run for their money. Photos courtesy of Alberto Nual. Click on images for larger view. Bulldozer got stuck while lifting the tracks and removing mud. How can PNR 5002 travel using the poor rails above? With lots of prayers. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Buda 22 at the north side of the Caloocan workshop. Reese and PNR executed a Memorandum of Agreement last January 2009 to restore this historic railcar. The Buda 22 railcar is an 8-man multi-gauge motor car made by Kalamazoo Mfg. Co. for the US Railway Grand Division use during World War II. After the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, Reese members with the help of PNR Caloocan workshop personnel prepared the Buda 22 for transfer. Reese installed temporary wooden wheels.
