Notes from programmer life. Piątek, 15 czerwca 2012. Native system notifications in rails applications (development mode). Let's just say that from time to time you would like to display a notification on your screen of some event that occurred. As an example let's display a request time. The problem occurs when you work in heterogeneous environment and your friends use either linux or mac. In that case you might be tempted to define Gemfile. What we basically want to achive is described in Gemfile manual.

Ruby on Rails developer. While I was working in Gavdi on a quite big Rails applcation I noticed that I was not as effective as I used to be while working on smaller apps. It turned out that lot of time was spent in reloading the application in development mode which was not always necessary. So I wrote Active Reload and it was quickly merged into Rails so now every Rails developer can enjoy higher productivty. Announcing Active reload on my blog. Active Reload - mission accomplished.
