Sensible Solutions

Wednesday, 20 February 2013. When communication improves from a misunderstanding. A few days ago I sent an email to a good friend, asking for his opinion on a topic. His response was thorough, and totally not what I expected. At first I was a little confused by his response - had he not fully read my email (it was quite short)? Once I'd talked with him in person, we quickly realised the difference and were then able to address the content of the email from both perspectives. Thursday, 17 November 2011.

Sensible Solutions: October 2011

http://blog.sensiblesolution.co.uk/2011_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 4 October 2011. What does an SLA mean? Recently I've had several people ask me about the SLA (Service Level Agreement) offerings of the cloud providers. Questions such as "what do they mean? And "which options should we go for? One big confusion customers often have is what the SLA actually means. Does 99.999% up-time mean the suppliers actually guarantee that your cloud servers will be functioning 99.999% of the time? In general the answer is no. So if up-time is critical to you (which it is to...

Monday, 21 March 2011. Disaster recovery in the Cloud - summary. So, we know there are many places things can go wrong. There are some places that are totally out of your control (the connect from your customers to the internet for example), but those that you can control are fairly easy to manage in the cloud. Keep regular backups, know where they are, and know what you will do with them when required. Sunday, 20 March 2011. Disaster recovery in the Cloud - databases. As mentioned in another article.
