People all over town are talking about it. What resembled a stream of twinkling lights in the sky, were actually illuminated balloons with messages of hope and healing written on them. One piece of health care reform is parity. Officially known as the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equality Act, the parity law went into effect in 2010. It requires most insurance plans that pay for treatment of substance abuse disorders to provide that. Sounds good, right? So, how can you follow this issue?

Signal’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Signal’s Board of Directors. The Office of Behavioral Health and the counties contract with Signal for treatment services. Judicial Districts fund Signal directly. Signal subcontracts with providers for delivery of substance abuse treatment services. Providers submit admission, DACODS, and service information into the Signal Beacon system. Signal aggregates this data and uses it to report to the Office of Behavioral Health. Signal pays the providers monthly.
