Flywheel - a DynamoDB ORM

http://blog.stevearc.com/2014/02/20/flywheel.html

Flywheel - a DynamoDB ORM. I lied. Its not an ORM. But if you squint, it looks like one. DynamoDB is pretty great, but it has the same problem that. Amazon services have: a horrible. API No offense, AZ, I love your services. They just need a fresh coat of paint. Maybe a paper bag. If you use Python and AWS, you have used boto. Use objects instead of dicts. Have a simple and familiar query syntax. Make simple operations easy, and hard operations possible. And I open-sourced it. Create a new top score:.

Open source projects and thoughts. Flywheel - a DynamoDB ORM. I lied. Its not an ORM. But if you squint, it looks like one. 6 Jan 2014): Cory Li has written a blog post that goes way in-depth on java bytecode hacking. Very useful resource; highly recommended! I decided that I wanted to write up a postmortem for my 2011 battlecode experience. Here is the list of the teams I was on:. 2015 Steven Arcangeli - Hosted by Github Pages.

A Pyramid Extension that Everyone Needs

http://blog.stevearc.com/2014/03/04/pyramid_duh.html

A Pyramid Extension that Everyone Needs. I love Pyramid. Its an incredibly modular, extensible, and minimalist web framework thats built for all sizes of web applications. The design philosophy is based around making it possible for developers to use whatever tool is best for the job, while still keeping simple tasks easy. Its a plugin-based framework, rather than the batteries-included style of Django. Because I cant think of a single Pyramid app that wouldnt want them. Malformed birthdate or metadata.

Pypicloud - Private PyPI + S3

http://blog.stevearc.com/2014/02/25/pypicloud.html

Pypicloud - Private PyPI S3. There comes a time in every engineers career when they are faced with the question: How the f#@% am I going to deploy this application? Dont worry, thats normal. You might find yourself using coping mechanisms like. But sooner or later the problem must be addressed. The canonical solution for this problem is to use packages. Typically rpms or debs; something linked to the operating system. For those of you deploying python code, there is a third. And a host of others. If you ...

DQL - A Query Language for DynamoDB

http://blog.stevearc.com/2014/02/27/dql.html

DQL - A Query Language for DynamoDB. One of the main pain-points of DynamoDB is the lack of a CLI. Banging out one-off queries is a standard part of being a DBA, so what happens when you dont have a CLI? Well, like me, youll probably end up writing short scripts that call the API. Looking up a user record:. Count number of users with a last name starting with A:. Fortunately, DynamoDB has released a newer version of the API based on expressions. Etc So I wrote DQL to be that glue.

Writings relating to Debian and Free Software. On de-duplicating uploaded file-content. Thursday, 7 May 2015. This evening Ive been mostly playing with removing duplicate content. Ive had this idea for the past few days about object-storage, and obviously in that context if you can handle duplicate content cleanly thats a big win. If you store chunks on-disk, by the hash of their contents, then things are nice and simple. The end result is that you might upload the file. So the main thing I was experimen...

Our Blog

McKenzie River Recreation Area. July 19th, 2015 by michelle. My favorite place to go! Our awesome dispersed campsite was available when we drove up to it at 7:45pm, set up the tent and got right on those tin foil dinners, which apparently are made of “tin foil” as Dixon thought. Fishing at Clear Lake landed us 7 trout, two bites and 4 throw backs and the 2year fish catching drought ended! We did a mini hike about halfway to Linton Lake before Fixon was tired and the sun was setting anyway. We are super e...

Since I am deeply in love with Pyramid, I was using Python on the backend. Turns out, webassets. Is the only decent choice for compiling web assets in python. Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Raspberry Pi as a transparent squid caching proxy. Means spending a fair amount of time building and customizing bootable cloud images. A lot of this time is spent waiting for RPMs, debs and tarballs to be downloaded by a vanilla guest OS running inside a VM. And given that I work from home with an average broadband connection in a remote country in the South Pacific, the result is some frustrating wait times. I went with a Raspberry Pi B running Raspbian. I ran an Ubuntu cust...
