Raquo; North Ledges Ice [Photo]. North Ledges Ice [Photo]. I took this picture January 2013 during one of the Appalachian Mountain Club ice outings. The area is normally a rock climbing destination but during the winter it transforms into columns of ice. I was fortunate to get the morning light that highlighted the color variations in the ice. Some route names in the area seem to be inspired by the color of the ice; the best example is probably ‘ Snot Rocket. 8216; I have no earthly idea why.
