Making sine, square, sawtooth and triangle waves
http://blog.stuartmemo.com/making-sine-square-sawtooth-and-triangle-waves
Making sine, square, sawtooth and triangle waves. If you’re wanting to use the Web Audio API to make a synthesizer, there are four main types of sound wave you’ll need to be familiar with first. These are sine, square, triangle and sawtooth. A sine wave is named after the fact that the sine function. Can be used to create the shape of the wave; the others are simply named after how they look:. We’ve got the Web Audio API’s Oscillator Interface. Each wave has its own number. Sine wave = 0. Square wave = 1.
Introducing Qwerty Hancock

I’ve been talking a lot about how to generate sound using the Web Audio API, but so far it’s been pretty unmusical. I thought the best way to remedy this would be to be hook the API into some sort of browser keyboard to show how to generate tones at different pitches. In order to do this though we need said browser keyboard. That’s why I’ve made Qwerty Hancock. A poorly named SVG interactive web keyboard. You can grab the code from Github. But you’re probably best checking out the demo and instructions.
Constants in JavaScript
http://blog.stuartmemo.com/constants-in-javascript
In programming is essentially a variable whose value can’t be changed. It’s destined to be what you tell it it is forever. This is useful when you want to set a really important value at the start of your program that you don’t want to accidentally change, or have your program amend it without you noticing. Luckily, in these modern times we can use constants in JavaScript by using the. Const MY NAME = 'Bobbin';. NAME = "Bobbin'; MY. NAME = 'Bobbin'; MY. Also, you might be wondering if the.

Recreating THX's Deep Note in JavaScript with the Web Audio API. For last year’s JSConf EU. Got in touch with me to ask if I could replicate Deep Note. THX’s classic audio logo. To use as part of the introduction to the conference I’m assuming it should be really easy, but I may be completely wrong. He probably meant for me to just use a synth, but seeing as it was for JSConf I felt I should try doing it in JavaScript. The original sound was written in 1983 using C. Things are a bit easier. Have a look a...

Responsify isn’t Responsive. Wait, what? May 19, 2012. I’ve been putting off this post as I haven’t been sure exactly how to approach it, but I guess it needs to be written. Anyway it’s gonna be one of the shorter posts I’ve written. Well I have a couple of reasons for this which I’m going to outline below. May 17, 2012. For those of you with a good set of...

A Diction Adventure
Tuesday, February 14. Here's how it went down: I excelled during preschool (which are all private), but as soon as I got into kindergarten, things became challenging. By the end of high school, I brought home my report card, handed it to my father and his response was, "Congratulations! You managed to get the whole alphabet! I proceeded to attempt university after that with the thought, "Everyone else (my brother, sister, all my cousins, etc.), were able to succeed, why shouldn't I be able to? Was traini...
