Anchored By The Familiar - Rabbi Simcha Weinberg
http://rabbi-simcha.livejournal.com/164634.html
Anchored By The Familiar. June 8th, 2012. The adults too needed an anchor. God sent Moses down from the mountain at the very moment that Revelation began: the people needed their au fait leader to stand with them, allowing them a connection with the familiar as they heard God's otherworldly voice. I wish you a Shabbat and Shavuot in which all the familiar sensations, smells, tastes and touch, offer opportunities to connect with our majestic potential. Jewish laws and beliefs. Shir HaShirim-Gaining Admittance - Rabbi Simcha Weinberg

June 5th, 2012. Rav Shmelke commented on, He looks in through the windows (Song of Songs 2:9). A poorly dressed men wish to present a petition to the governor, but the doorkeeper refused to admit him. The petitioner then walked to a window of the room where the governor sat, and loudly begged for admittance. Likewise, our uncleanliness prevents our petitions from being heard by God; but if we open our hearts before offering our prayers, God will grant them entrance. (Shemen haTov, page 26).

Entries by tag: jewish spirituality. June 15th, 2012. How odd of God to wait for such an unusual situation to prove His concern for healthy marriages! Why wait for a husband, in a moment of insanity, to accuse his wife of having an affair rather than have an intense ceremony at the wedding? Why does the Torah spend so much time describing a terrible situation, after the fact, instead of directly addressing marriage in great detail? Why is he so jealous? The Talmud declares, "Whoever sees a Sotah in her s...

A Measure of Righteousness. June 1st, 2012. How odd that a man convinced that no sword shall pass through the land would lift his sword to stop the Egyptians! How odd that a man so confident in his nation's righteousness would ignore the warnings of a prophet! How sad that a man could be so blinded by his righteousness. Did we do something to deserve it? I asked. "Yehoshaphat risked his life to fight. Why was he not granted the same miracles? Thus says God: Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and whose ...
