Images and Musings by an Artist, Environmentalist, Foodie, Gardener. Thursday, October 08, 2009. Regular Daily Meditation Practice. I'm a fan/practitioner/friend of the practice of meditation but like everyone I know who "sits", sometimes I go days, even weeks without meditating. I long ago stopped berating myself for these lapses in my practice schedule but I still like reminders of why regular daily practice is important. Posted by Cindy Schafer. Mike sam...

It seems a week doesn’t get by without a post or two in Hacker News about GUI design or graphic design, often entitled something like “Design for Hackers” or “Design for Developers”. The trouble with all these posts is that they are trying to shortcut the methodology of design by various hacks, even something as lengthy as read 5 books is by-in-large a hack. By looking at the Design of Everyday Things (the book or the things around you) you begin to appreciate or notice the failures in signs, handles, bu...

Hacking's Fun!
Thoughts and lessons learned from hacking. Thursday, November 14, 2013. One interesting problem we had to solve while building Blippy. This solution in its current implementation seems to handle the tradeoffs reasonably. Sharing is snappy (with the exception of 100 frame GIFs and only when iMessage is involved) and there are fewer moving parts client-side (always a good thing ;). There are still optimizations to be made, but the current implementation gets the job done in a timely matter.
