Salchichatu: February 2008
http://salchichatu.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Polenta with Cheddar and Basil. I tried Melanie's polenta. Tonight with a few adjustments based on what I had around the house. I split the recipe in half, used regular corn meal instead of polenta cornmeal, dried basil instead of thyme, extra sharp cheddar cheese instead of havarti, and I used 1 can of regular chicken broth and the rest water. It was good, despite all the compromising I had to do. I think I just like anything with cheese in it. 2 onions, quartered. Cover st...

Salchichatu: March 2008
http://salchichatu.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 17, 2008. Two new successful cooking experiences! I made heart shaped meatloaf for Mark! Okay, that's a lie. I made it for me. The recipe was all "shape mixture into a loaf" and I was all ".but why would I do that when I could shape it into ANYTHING I WANT? I would have made something really elaborate, but I figured I should start simple and see how it goes. I'm thinking Toro-shaped meatloaf next time. 1-1/2 cups finely chopped onion. 1 tablespoon minced garlic. 1 teaspoon olive oil. Stir t...

Meals on Wheeless: February 2008
http://mealsonwheeless.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
February 25, 2008. It was National Banana Bread Day sometime this weekend. Saturday? I don't remember. I can't say that I crave banana bread like some people, but there were some renegade bananas that we bought last week that went straight from green to brown, and they had to be taught a lesson. Onward! I think I succeeded, so there. I adapted my recipe from this one. Friggin' Healthy Banana Bread. 1/4 cup plain yogurt. 1 teaspoon baking soda. 1/2 cup whole wheat flour. 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour.

Meals on Wheeless: Food Resolutions
http://mealsonwheeless.blogspot.com/2008/03/food-resolutions.html
March 10, 2008. I'm just back from traveling (Texas, North Carolina), and I'm working through the backlog of things that have accumulated in my absence. I do have some recipes that might be of interest to you, my faithful readers, but I first wanted to take a step back and look at the big picture. Maybe it's March, but that's okay - it's time for some food resolutions for the year. I will attempt to make the following this year:. Pickled cucumbers, sauerkraut, pickled beets, etc. But I Suck at Cooking!

Meals on Wheeless: Fool!
http://mealsonwheeless.blogspot.com/2008/05/fool.html
May 20, 2008. Majuer Dilemma, guys. Our oven has broken! Our stove is fine, but for those of you who know my other half. You know that missing an oven is a big deal. How will we get our emergency cookies? Make cupcakes for our friends? Prepare our muffin-y breakfasts? While we don't have dessert every night, or even the majority of nights, the lack of an oven makes me crave basically everything that I can't have right now, including most of our typical desserts. 1/4-1/2 cup powdered sugar. 3 Whip the cre...

Meals on Wheeless: April 2008
http://mealsonwheeless.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
April 12, 2008. So long, winter? I've put away the scarves, stowed the down comforter and bought my spring and summer herbs for planting. The sun is shining, the grass is being mowed, I'm wearing flip flops. However, the tease that is Seattle spring will be plunging back into sloppy cold this next week, but for now we have a little taste of what summer is like - remember it? Squash and Kale Lasagna. Though, I certainly did try. Adapted from Sunset Magazine. 4 tablespoons olive oil. 1 Assemble ingredients...

Meals on Wheeless: December 2007
http://mealsonwheeless.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
December 15, 2007. I don't know the history of the food blogging world, and I don't know how I've gotten to this. But, it just seemed the time to have my own place on the internet wherein I talk about food. I don't know what I'll be talking about. I don't know my philosophy of food. Or of eating. And who knows if I'll just talk about food. Let's not be too formal about it. Okay? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). But I Suck at Cooking! Meals on Wheeless: "What's for Dinner?"
http://mealsonwheeless.blogspot.com/2008/02/whats-for-dinner.html
February 24, 2008. This is a delayed response to Penney's question of "How do you decide what to eat? Living with Brian, the first question to answer in our household is "Who will cook? We do not cook well together - too alpha). After our first few months of living together, Brian and I realized that deciding the answer to that question the night of dinner would probably mean that we were. A) eating cereal for dinner,. B) going out to eat, or. C) not getting dinner until 10 or so. Ok, then what? For idea...
