Wayfaring Wanderer: May 2015

http://blog.wayfaringwanderer.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

A Rustic Mast Farm Inn Destination Wedding. Want me to check my doppler radar? One of the groomsmen offered. "Oh, yes, please! Responded the concerned bride. According to the weather map it looked like the rain was supposed to pass in the next 15-minutes, but it was tough to know for sure. If you live in the mountains the unpredictable weather is something you get used to. If you ask me, the rain made their intimate wedding even more cozy. I'd say it's a pretty good sign! She dreamed of getting married i...

Blue Ridge Mountain Engagement Photo Adventure on Tanawha Trail. The majesty of the Blue Ridge Mountains captivate a lot of people and these two are no exception. Jess and Mike are both transplants that found their way to the High Country—and haven't wanted to leave—like so many other folks in this region that permanently relocate. This is where they've been building their lives together and it's where they plan to remain for many more years. Mountain folk are spoiled.). For the first part of our session...

Tanawha Trail - From Rough Ridge parking area to Wilson Creek Overlook. In order to preserve the delicate environment yet allow access,. A 200-foot-long elevated boardwalk crosses the landscape. The rest of the trail, however, takes you through narrow corridors over rocky paths. Due to the recent rain, most of the trail was slick and required you to. Pay close attention to footing in order to avoid slipping. Once you reach the beginning of the boardwalk,. And along the way, you pass some very lofty rock.

A North Carolina Backyard Farm Wedding. They love to write and sing silly songs, they go for hikes in the mountains, they absolutely love to eat good food and drink good libations, and on their wedding day in Creston, NC, Katelyn and Seth managed to encapsulate the spirit of what makes their 9 year relationship so enduring and playful. I met Katelyn's mom at a wedding I photographed last year. Colinda, who officiated Emma and Alex's wedding, found out I was the "Wayfaring Wanderer" and we instantly h...

http://whatiseeclicks.blogspot.com/2009/05/birdnestlove.html

Thursday, May 14, 2009. Out on my fire escape my roommate spotted a mama bird who created a nest out of an old flower pot. She's guarding two eggs. So my roommate and i will guard over her until her babies hatch. We've named her Guadalupe. We're going to be aunts and we love them already! Posted by Angry Asian. We discovered a nest on our front porch last year, and watched, and took pictures, and waited, and waited. One day, there were four little birdies! Congratulations on your new roomie! I'd like to ...

PHOTO JOURNEY: February 2009

A Personal Journey thru Photography. Sunday, February 8, 2009. Thaipusam is a Hindu religious festival that is held once a year in honour of the Hindu deity "Lord Murugan". It is a time when worshippers show their devotion by usually either carry milk pots or the more extreme of carrying a 15kg (33lbs) “Kavadi” which involves alot of piercing of hooks or very long sharp spikes. Here are some shots from this morning. A warning for the squeamish, there are shots of body piercings! My eye caught sight of th...

http://nitroxphotojourney.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

A Personal Journey thru Photography. Saturday, February 27, 2010. The rush of the previous day did not stop me from getting up in the cold morning of 6am to take a walk around the hotel neighbourhood. The first thing I realised was that Japan was really the land of the rising sun. Even this early in a winter's morning, it was bright. My first stop was a little shrine I saw while on the train the day before. This is the Takanawa Shinto Shrine :-. This pink cat is the entrance to a huge cat store that ever...

A Personal Journey thru Photography. Sunday, March 31, 2013. Wow, I have noted that the last time I actually posted something here was 3 years back. Talk about overdue! Over that time, my DSLR hasn't been quite as well used as I would like it to be and instead, I have relied mostly on my iPhone 4S for most of my travel photos. A Personal Journey thru Photography. Friday, January 30, 2009. What is a visit to any country without showing their food. I was a little disappointed with the variety of food in Hong Kong. Hoping to experience some interesting fare, I was instead faced with the usual, Wanton noodles and Tim Sum. There were really no roadside stalls but I suppose Hong Kong has modernised and improved their hygiene levels after events like SARs and the Avian flu. Anyway, here are some fare that I had during my stay there.

A Personal Journey thru Photography. Monday, April 20, 2009. I recently had an oppunity to photograph a wedding. It was my first time shooting such an important event and it was a tiring experience. Running around trying to get that good shot and rushing to change lenses in-between breaks. But overall, I really enjoyed the chance to try out something new and I was kinda happy with the results. I ended up taking over 400 shots but here are 3 of my favourites that I like to share. I am especially happy wit...

A Personal Journey thru Photography. Monday, March 2, 2009. It been a dry past few months in Singapore without a drop of rain. A Personal Journey thru Photography. Friday, March 5, 2010. It's check-out day. I got up bright and early to take a walk around the hotel grounds. Spent so much time outside the hotel that we never really got the chance to see what the hotel had to offer to guests. Here the bell in the garden is being rung by the 2 of the hotel staff which happens once every morning to mark the hotel chain's 10th anniversary:-. To keep track of the number of times the bell is rung, the staff make use of these pebbles:-.

The Buddhist Conservative

Sunday, July 11, 2010. Looking for weeds in a meadow of wildflowers. So often in life we are distracted by our situation or mood that we forget to see what is most important. During these times we fail to see all the good things around us, focusing on typically insignificant negatives that have little to do with the facts of the situation at hand. "We find ourselves searching for weeds in a meadow of wildflowers". My sincere hope is that each of us will keep the image of the meadow available when our wor...

February 18, 2015. My Children’s Story! For Christmas 2014, Matt and I worked hard to give gifts that were simple, thoughtful, few, and aligned with loving others. This resulted in quite a few handmade gifts and only one toy per Olson Tiny! Plus, how do you write a children’s book? How do you choose the characters and setting and make it cohesive and sensible? I didn’t know. So their book didn’t get done in time for Christmas. I love the result, my kids love the result, and I hope you will too! Matt and ...
