A random collection of thoughts, comments and photos from Ben Simon. Monday, April 13, 2015. The Mystery of the Birding and Wildlife Trail Sign. Last Friday, I'm jogging along Carlin Springs Road. When I pass by this sign I've seen dozens of times:. I've always wondered where following that Birding and Wildlife. In all these years I had no idea that 4 Mile Run Trail / W O&D connected up to this adorable nature center. What this section of trail lacks in length, it makes up for in character. Lets Measure ...

http://www.blogbyben.com/2015/05/gardenings-cruelest-task-thinning.html
A random collection of thoughts, comments and photos from Ben Simon. Wednesday, May 06, 2015. Gardening's Cruelest Task: Thinning. Looking at these tiny seedling I didn't want to do it. After all, these guys had grown from seeds, beating impossible odds to even exist. And yet, one has to thin them out. Failure to do so hurts all the plants. (At least this is what I'm told.). So yeah, it pained me to snip some of these guys. But I knew I had to do it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Some Man Point Math.

Is located in Arlington, and the rest of the government is just a stone's throw a way in DC, you can imagine we get a heck of a lot of helicopter traffic. But one day I look up and see an especially odd aircraft. It looked roughly like a plane, but it appeared to have its prop engines titled up like a helicopter. Based aircraft. Note the pivoted engines:. Have an...

A random collection of thoughts, comments and photos from Ben Simon. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Boston Adventures, May 2015 Edition. We just finished up a whirlwind visit to Boston. The trip started with us picking up Gavriella and heading to Halls Pond Sanctuary for a picnic lunch. Tzipora was our little geologist. She kept packing her pockets with various special rocks. I finally had to convince her to stop and leave some rocks for the next set of park visitors. That's right, we hiked around Deer Island (a ...

http://www.blogbyben.com/2015/05/just-how-bad-are-virginia-and.html
A random collection of thoughts, comments and photos from Ben Simon. Friday, May 15, 2015. Just how bad are Virginia and Arlington's Flags? Man, did Roman Mars. Nail it in his Ted talk: Why city flags may be the worst-designed thing you've never noticed. He manages to teach fundamental principles of design and inspire us to care about City Flags, all through humor and well delivered radio effects. It's a must watch. To recap, here are the 5 principles of good flag design:. Yikes, pretty awful. And now th...

Sunday, May 24, 2015. Day 7, Afternoon: My digital watch is no longer any use to me. Rain has gotten inside. The display now reads “L o’clock.” What time is that? Whether or not I can read it, the clock keeps ticking. Whenever I turn on my cell phone to take a picture, record a video journal, or make a call, an LED clock stares back at me. I can’t escape time, but I do feel some facsimile of freedom as I remove the watch from my wrist and tuck it into my pocket. 8220;You’re going back out into this?

Education Boards in India. Central Board of Secondary Education. Opting for a CBSE school has its own share of pros, and the biggest advantage is that all major competitive examinations in India are based on the CBSE syllabus. These examinations include the Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE), the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) and the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT). The subjects in a CBSE syllabus are approached in a theoretical manner, and true emphasis is not laid on real-life...

Inte för att jag klagar. Inte alls. Men kär blir jag nog inte ändå. 2015-08-18 @ 08:15:19 Permalink. Den där killen jag träffade i lördags. Han sa att han lovade höra av sig om några veckor. Några veckor känns så himla långt bort bara. Och jag vet att han är den enda mina ögon kommer leta efter i helgen. Det kunde inte jag heller.

A random collection of thoughts, comments and photos from Ben Simon. Thursday, March 15, 2018. An Old Friend Gets A New Look. A lot has changed since I started working as a programmer in Washington, DC area nearly 20 years ago. Hardware has gone from physical to virtual with specs that I could barely have imagined. I've traded PHP for Java as my daily server side language of choice. Gone is the office and coworkers, replaced by programming in my pajamas and a 0 mile commute. One one had, the process was ...

Musings of a Want to Be Renaissance Man. Thursday, August 13, 2015. The Rough Draft: Fantasy Football Mock Draft Rounds 1 and 2. Read, think about the picks and let me know what you think. Most of the fun of the draft is in the debate. The Gronkiees- Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks. CauseIWasBlount- Jamaal Charles, RB, Chiefs. Douchers-Eddie Lacy, RB, Packers. Man deprecating team has had too many slow starts to a season to want their number 1 RB to be out the first two games so they go with a rising star.
