Follow along as I fumble my way through planning a move from the U.S. to France, and eventually figure out how to survive overseas for 10 months. Visa applications are a PAIN! Here's a little word of advice if you are planning to apply for a visitor's visa to France: START EARLY! 20 - for two certificates from the city police department that certify that Colin and I don't have any record of arrests. 5 (roughly) - to make three copies of each document, and three copies of each translation (thank goodness ...

Follow along as I fumble my way through planning a move from the U.S. to France, and eventually figure out how to survive overseas for 10 months. Uno, Deux . This evening ended with the most cutthroat game of Uno I have ever played. All I can say is that it's a good thing that Beanie can't hear yet . there were a lot of inappropriate words in more than one language used this evening! We ate at the famous Les Deux Magots. Personally, I don't think they are that ugly! Alas, there isn't anything going on in...

Congrats to Ryan Cooper for his winning caption. Given the fact that she was only nominated in ONE category and LOST to Rachel Weisz, a quizzical Johansson doesn't know how to respond to Spacey's comment in which he congratulated her for taking home two magnificent Golden Globes.". Follow along as I fumble my way through planning a move from the U.S. to France, and eventually figure out how to survive overseas for 10 months. Coffee hour in Paris? So, I know at least two people from here in Ann Arbor who are going to be in Paris! I was just talking to one of them about how we should have weekly outings for coffee so that everyone can get together and chat. It probably won't do any wonders for my French, but it's REALLY nice to think that I'll know a few people over there. On the bri...

Follow along as I fumble my way through planning a move from the U.S. to France, and eventually figure out how to survive overseas for 10 months. I'm not a hardened criminal! My husband and I are working on our visa applications now. According to EVERYONE I've ever talked to about this subject, I am about to embark on a bureaucratic process that is about as much fun as trying to negotiate with a wild animal. What if they had me mixed up with another person, and I was arrested on the spot for murder?

We're back on line at home again! At the moment, it's just a dial-up connection, but we're happy to have it. We should have our high-speed connection next week, once the company gets our payment information. Too bad we have to do all of this by mail - it would be faster do this in person. By the way, we did find a barbequ...
