Flies, Fat Tires, Family: Ramblings on learning. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Streams should be in good shape. Yep, with over 2 feet (and increasing as I type) of snow freshly blanketing the ground, and plenty of precip the past few months. it should be great fishing this spring. Kid's are loving it! Stay safe if your in the North East today! Tuesday, January 20, 2015. I like silk. Apparently. MAN POWERED FISHING: A Textbook Post Spawn Beatdown
http://www.manpoweredfishing.com/2015/06/a-textbook-post-spawn-beatdown.html
Monday, June 15, 2015. A Textbook Post Spawn Beatdown. It was mid-morning and I found myself with a few hours of free time, a rarity these days. It was a no brainer - I loaded up and headed for the water. But in the back of my mind, I knew that this time of year can be tricky in New England. My biggest chain pickerel of the day. The 2nd biggest bass of the day - caught on a Berkley Jerk Shad. Chain pickerel are rapidly earning a special place in my heart. The big bass for the day at 19.25". To other soft...

http://www.manpoweredfishing.com/2015/07/fireworks-and-freak-temps-early-july.html
Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Fireworks and Freak Temps - Early July Kayak Fishing. Clear, I think", I responded. So I opened my AccuWeather app. Sure enough, it was supposed to be clear, but also a bit chilly - like 45 degrees chilly. Isn't this July? Suddenly I was beginning to re-think my plans, but I refused to let some cold weather stop me. A chilly morning launch. I launched the ATAK. Around 5 AM and began throwing a mix of a Deps frog and River2Sea. Happy 4th of July! A solid bass to start the afternoon.

Friday, May 29, 2015. The ATAK has Landed - a Preliminary Review and First Trips. The hype machine is running full blast in the kayak fishing industry these days. Unfortunately, not every product lives up to the billing. It is one reason I encourage kayak anglers to try before they buy, no matter what type of product. One of the most hyped kayaks of the past year has been the Wilderness Systems ATAK 140. The Advanced Tactical Angling Kayak (ATAK) 140. Preliminary ATAK 140 Review:. The western Mass giant.

MAN POWERED FISHING: December 2014
http://www.manpoweredfishing.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Unfortunatley, MK has repeatedly failed to deliver on promises, including not honoring contracts and giving the team no support in any way shape or form. The list of unethical practices goes on, many of which are known throughout the kayak fishing community, so they will not be listed here. Sadly, the Malibu Kayaks I joined in 2012 is not the MK of today. Now, it is on to bigger and better things. Tight lines! Posted by Drew Haerer. Monday, December 15, 2014. We are hoping to ...

MAN POWERED FISHING: April 2015
http://www.manpoweredfishing.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2015. The Ice has Melted - My First trip of 2015! Winter was beautiful, but way too long! My first fish of the year - slimed! The big fish of the day and the DD X-rap it ate! They are difficult to see, but the white caps were rolling on the main lake. I shuttered a bit as I watched white caps rolling across the 55 acre lake. I snapped a quick pic and began paddling. The BB Angler Pro. Was my savior, as waves crashed over the front of my Ride 115. Posted by Drew Haerer. Largemouth, cr...

Saturday, February 28, 2015. A Video Intro to Medium Cranking. Yesterday I put together a short video that talks about a subject that I think gets ignored a lot - cranking medium depths. It is no secret that I love to crank, and I could ramble on about it for hours. But, hopefully this video gives you an idea or two to put to use this spring, and beyond. Tight lines! Posted by Drew Haerer. Thursday, February 19, 2015. Paddling into the fog. Look at that sweet paddle! Until next time, tight lines! If we a...

Trout Stream Day Dreams: May 2016
http://troutstreamdaydreams.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 29, 2016. Escaping the Heat on a Salter Stream. I spent the weekend visiting family in southeastern MA, and I was lucky enough to do a little sea run brook trout fishing while I was there. Dawn on the stream. Later we walked upstream to the last trail access point and fished back downstream. In this stretch we starting hooking into some nicer fish. I caught this 10" brookie in the first pool we entered. He came out from under a root wad and smashed my streamer. I guess I'll never know. The fi...

Flies, Fat Tires, Family: Ramblings on learning...: What was once a pond...
http://fliesfattiresfamily.blogspot.com/2015/06/comments-from-closeman-after-my-last.html
Flies, Fat Tires, Family: Ramblings on learning. Monday, June 15, 2015. What was once a pond. Comments from Coleman after my last blog inspired a brief bit of fishing today. Coleman had mentioned he had been fishing down stream on the same brook I had fished the other day and it was going well. The bottom through this lower section often is sandy or pea gravel, with clumps of rock, wood, or rootball here and there. Maybe missed or lost 4 and landed 3. Not bad for a pit stop of a fishing "trip". The work ...

http://fliesfattiresfamily.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Flies, Fat Tires, Family: Ramblings on learning. Tuesday, October 7, 2014. It's been to long. September photo dump time! Man, I have been busy, and it's just make posting tough. But, today I had a chance, so. here we go! The month started with a fun paddle on a local river/lake called long pond. It's gorgeous! It will be fun to try though! On a warmish day we took the kids to a farm pond near my parents place. They caught some sun fish, but Emily really had fun reeling in this golden shiner. The left ban...
