Thursday, July 07, 2016. Sa Calobra, a Mallorcan Mountain Meander. As many of my loyal and devoted readers know I quite enjoy a sensible and sociable bike ride with chums. Blogfromthebarn: August 2006

http://blogfromthebarn.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 31, 2006. Kids today, don't know what hard work is. I've just finished making a batch of, Stuffy's breakfast starter,. About 8 grapefruit, 15 oranges 20 apples and an inch or two of fresh ginger. delicious, but about 30 minutes chopping and pulping and 30 more cleaning to make about two litres. Natural wholesome goodness, (although I always add a spoonful or two of sugar syrup and some monosodium glutamate to bring out the flavours). Posted by Stuffy @ 7:01 pm. Links to this post. Blogfromthebarn: Set the bar low, enjoy the surprise, a movie review of Kingsman

http://blogfromthebarn.blogspot.com/2015/02/set-bar-low-enjoy-surprise-movie-review.html

Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Set the bar low, enjoy the surprise, a movie review of Kingsman. One of the inevitable outcomes of living in a polite, democracy, and many social commentators seem to gloss over this, is that one often finds oneself watching a film which would not have been ones first choice. I feared the former based on reviews and trailers. The violence was cartoonish but hey, that's what one expects from Vaughn and Goldman. I particularly enjoyed the Busby Berkely-like fireworks, I'll...

Blogfromthebarn: January 2007

http://blogfromthebarn.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 18, 2007. It appears that the hosepipe ban which has been in place during the preceding "wettest six months on record" has finally been lifted. I must get the canoe out tonight and check the sprinklers, should be able to get a week or so of irrigation in before the 2007 drought order kicks in. See previous thoughts on our utility providers. Rain Rain. Posted by Stuffy @ 9:56 am. Links to this post. Sunday, January 14, 2007. Enjoy, or not, as it suits you. Posted by Stuffy @ 10:00 pm.

Blogfromthebarn: A very organic approach to engineering, bamboo bicycles...

http://blogfromthebarn.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-very-organic-approach-to-engineering.html

Monday, February 23, 2015. A very organic approach to engineering, bamboo bicycles. My Christmas present this year (from the current wife) was a two-day workshop building a bicycle, from bamboo! A pretty niche idea but I'd enjoyed making my fixie ( click here for that tale. So much last year that Mrs Stuffy felt that I'd like this. Bikes made from wood? Sell kits (for home assembly) and also coached sessions in their studios in increasingly trendy Hackney Wick. James had prepared aluminium jigs to hold t...

Blogfromthebarn: Mallorcan madness, a cautionary tale ...

http://blogfromthebarn.blogspot.com/2015/04/mallorcan-madness-cautionary-tale.html

Wednesday, April 08, 2015. Mallorcan madness, a cautionary tale . So foolishly I signed up to do a very silly bike ride in July, the way it was sold to me was,. Do you fancy a ride in Provence? Well yes, why not,. And finishes climbing Mont Ventoux". Hold on, what was that last bit? For those sensible folk who avoid cycling Mont Ventoux is a legend, the destroyer, the toughest climb on the Tour de France, an iconic breaker of souls and legs. But I'd already said "yes". There were a number of things makin...

Gullible's Travels: The Who Hits 50 at The O2

http://blog.mmenterprises.co.uk/2015/04/the-who-hits-50-at-o2.html

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Thursday, April 09, 2015. The Who Hits 50 at The O2. This will be the third time I have seen The Who. Last time was in 1996 in Hyde Park when they played the whole of Quadraphenia. The first time was in 1970 at the Isle of Wight Festival. When they played the whole of Tommy! I still have the original vinyl double gatefold album with the price sticker 85/- That is 85 shillings or four and a quarter of your English pounds. I would second that&#...

http://blog.mmenterprises.co.uk/2013/12/cleaning-wandle-december-2013.html

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Thursday, December 19, 2013. Cleaning the Wandle December 2013. Garfield Road, South Wimbledon, London. Sunday 08-December-2013. We dragged the usual junk out of the river; instead of the typical coconut shells (there is a local Hindu temple) we found an actual Ganesha. An innovation for the Wandle Trust. Merry Christmas. Ho, Ho, Ho! Full set of photos on Flickr: http:/ www.flickr.com/photos/markmclellan/sets/72157638775636894/. The Wandle Tr...

http://blog.mmenterprises.co.uk/2015/03/cleaning-wandle-march-2015.html

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Sunday, March 22, 2015. Cleaning the Wandle March 2015. Poulter Park, Sutton. Sunday 08-March-2015. The weather forecast was for temperatures in the range 5-8 deg C so I bundled up with thermal long Johns in expectation of a chilly wade in the water. As it turned out the water was only up to our knees and the Spring sun was blazing so in pretty short order I was roasting. It was a glorious Spring day. The Wandle Trust is an environmental char...

Gullible's Travels: Dr John at Under The Bridge

http://blog.mmenterprises.co.uk/2012/08/dr-john-at-under-bridge.html

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Friday, August 03, 2012. Dr John at Under The Bridge. London, Thursday 19-July-2012. Another musical legend at our local music venue Under The Bridge. This time Dr John. We got there in good time as it is unreserved seating. There was a bit of confusion on the door as we were fitted with VIP wristbands by a newbie doorman. Mary breezed in ahead but the head doorman spotted the error and removed mine :-(. When we went to see Taj Mahal. Thames ...

Gullible's Travels: Arcadia at The New Victoria Theatre

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Friday, March 20, 2015. Arcadia at The New Victoria Theatre. Woking. Friday 27-February-2015. Mary's very generous colleagues on a previous project gave her a theatre voucher as a leaving present. Spending it at West End prices and availability was a challenge but The New Victoria Theatre in Woking, where Mary works, was in the same theatre chain. So we booked seats to see what is often described as "Tom Stoppard's masterpiece". Starring Feli...

Gullible's Travels: Cleaning the Wandle January 2015

http://blog.mmenterprises.co.uk/2015/02/cleaning-wandle-january-2015.html

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Thursday, February 26, 2015. Cleaning the Wandle January 2015. After missing a couple of clean-ups it was back into the water on a chilly January day just upstream from the last clean up in this stretch in 2013. This had a road bridge over the river so that meant lots of junk in the river as people can lob stuff over the railings. And a great improvement it is too. To quote the Merton website. The Wandle Trust is an environmental charity dedi...

Gullible's Travels: We're not worthy, we're not worthy

http://blog.mmenterprises.co.uk/2004/02/were-not-worthy-were-not-worthy.htm

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Monday, February 09, 2004. We're not worthy, we're not worthy. No it was not Alice Cooper, it was the Bonzos (Bonzo Dog Dooh-Dah Band). Albums of all time (hey! We can't all like the same things). Turns out they were, strictly speaking, the "Bill Posters Will Be Band" featuring two of the old-time Bonzos: Roger Ruskin Spear and Sam Spoons (Martin Ash). Still close enough for me. http://blog.mmenterprises.co.uk/2004/11/bill-posters-will-be-band.htm

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Friday, November 05, 2004. Bill Posters Will Be Band. One of the joys of working in London is the recapture of a social life Monday to Thursday instead of room service meals and CNN on the TV. Mum produced a pack of letters I wrote to them when I was in college in 71/74 as part of clearing out their lives. A quick glance show them to be less Oscar Wilde and more Nigel Molesworth. At The Bull's Head. Friday, November 05, 2004. Sixty-something ...

Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Meet me where they play the blues. Mary Coughlan at Ronnie Scott's Thursday 14-Oct-10. I have seen Mary Coughlan. 160;once before when my Mary was working in Dublin. She appeared at The Olympia Theatre performing a set of Billie Holliday songs - there being many parallels between their two lives. . Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mark McLellan (gentleman, scholar and acrobat) muses out loud. Thursday, March 05, 2015. Jules and the Gamblers at The Bull's Head. Barnes, London. Friday 13-February-2013. My second time of seeing Jules and The Gamblers. Last time was at The Old Frizzle. On Wimbledon Broadway. There I got the impression the set list was geared to background music for the drinkers; this time it was more like the Chicago Blues that they really wanted to play! Jules plays the harp. A Catholic mother and wife's life and works. Friday, October 25, 2013. At the time I had no clue, so I felt I needed to figure that out. How do you define yourself? To get to the point, I figured out because of my childhood religion and how I was raised I defined myself by my Catholic faith. So why was I trying to escape it? Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Things that have been recent obsessions I'm having:. 1 That I can't be forgiven from my sin. 2 That I'm going to do something wrong, just don't know what.

Wednesday, 1 June 2016. 10 Things I Wish I’d Known Before Traveling To Russia. Our guest author Jess Signet. Russia is an exciting and unique place for anyone to travel. Hidden for so long behind the iron curtain of the Soviet Union, western tourism still hasn’t taken this vast and impressive country into its clutch yet. Because of this, the unique and authentic experience that travellers get, without mass-crowds of foreigners, is pretty much unmatchable. Here’s a list of 10 things that I wish I&#8...

blogfromthebunker | Paranoid ramblings from the safety of the bunker.

Paranoid ramblings from the safety of the bunker. Paranoid ramblings from the safety of the bunker…. May 5, 2011. Osama Bin Laden Is Dead! Welcome to my rambling comments from the secret bunker! What with the extremely interesting events occuring this past week I thought it high time I started this blog, not only to restore some balance to the obvious propaganda spewing from the mainstream news channels, but also because living in a secret bunker hidden from the world above can actually be quite boring.
