Blogging on the Powwow. Thursday, July 3, 2014. The Diagnosis is: Oboe Lung. Neil gave me permission to write this post in case it helps someone else. Just as an aside, people can get sick from their instruments. There are conditions called " Trombone Player's Lung. And " Saxophone Lung. Neil had all of his testing done at the Lahey Clinic, including a free screening for lung cancer and a 45 minute consult with a surgeon. But, we finally made our way to Dana-Farber. Neil, wearing his now-famous "Oboe Lun...

Blogging on the Powwow: The Hunter-Gatherer in the No Judgment Zone

Blogging on the Powwow. Monday, February 18, 2013. The Hunter-Gatherer in the No Judgment Zone. Now, when I am panting along with everyone else, towering above the stinky masses on one of the two, old stair machines with steps that run on a belt, I see the irony of this situation. Going to the gym has somehow put me in touch with humanity. I see the commonality of both our struggles and our triumphs. Instead, I go to Planet Fitness, which is dubbed the No Judgment Zone. I bet that carrying that basket on...

Blogging on the Powwow. Sunday, December 28, 2014. Reflections From a Would-Be Social Worker. I answered the phone. "Hello, this is Dr. Mark XXX, calling from the MSW Program at Bridgewater State College. You applied for a position here and we're interested in interviewing you. We're wondering if you would be available for a phone interview tomorrow. We know it's short notice, so you don't have to say yes, but we thought you might be available.". I thought. Way Out West: April 2012

http://shcidaho.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 17, 2012. The boys and I are in the midst of our first long-ish separation from Steve since he returned from deployment last September. In the grand scheme of things, he won't be away for. Long, but still, it is a first for us since returning to normal. So far, the boys are doing just fine. They are missing Daddy a lot, but luckily springtime means lots of activities with school and sports, so we don't have a lot of down time on our hands. Thursday, April 12, 2012. This is a big. Saturday, March 09, 2013. Saturday - 9:44 am. Workout complete and second cup of coffee in the works. Sorted laundry waiting to be washed. Girls squawking in the yard. This one is under the weather. This one is busy, cashing in his allotted video game time. And this one is busy looking cute, because she cannot help herself.. Happy Saturday to you, too, Heather! Hope that it was a good one and that Camden is feeling better soon! Saturday, March 09, 2013 7:18:00 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Way Out West: Autumn

http://shcidaho.blogspot.com/2013/11/autumn.html

Saturday, November 02, 2013. October was a rough month for us, from start to finish. I love Halloween but I have to say that I was quite happy to see the month come to a close. We are starting November in style, with fever and sore throats! Scout is new to our family since joining us as a 6-week old puppy in July. She is a handful, but I am confident that once she is an adult, she will calm down and be a great pup. We are already noticing her mellowing out a little. "A little" being the key w...One of th...

Thursday, May 30, 2013. Roy has recently taken to getting himself up onto the roof of our house, and then claiming that he has no idea how to get back down. Here, he can be seen sticking his tongue out at me, when I told him he was on his own. Steve has been in Cambodia for the past few weeks and will be back in Idaho tomorrow. We are all missing him and wanting him back home with us. I don't get it! Heres to summer, Heather! Nice to see you back on your blog! Sunday, June 02, 2013 7:15:00 AM. Giant Pean...

http://shcidaho.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 02, 2013. This weekend has been a bit of a bust. Steve returned from Cambodia Friday evening - - we were so happy to see him! Unfortunately, he had to get up at 4:00 the next morning, and leave for drill weekend (about 3.5 hours from home). Also, I woke up in the middle of the night, running a fever and experiencing chills and body aches.ugh! It seems that the horrid cold/virus that has been going around finally caught up with me. Of course it happens on a drill weekend! I have also tried a ...

Way Out West: August 2012

http://shcidaho.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Back on July 23rd, we got our first egg! I suspected that Nan was up to something a couple of days prior - - her behavior was a little different and she just seemed to be pacing a lot more than usual. Sure enough, she sequestered herself in the nesting box one morning, and not long after, we had our first egg. It was big excitement, I tell you! One of Nan's eggs on the left, and one of Butterscotch's eggs on the right. I'm so glad that I took the leap into backyard chickens....
