March | 2009 | blogicalinks
https://blogicalinks.wordpress.com/2009/03
Seeking sharing venting whatever…ing. Archive for March 2009. Blame It on the Rain. Two male and female mallard ducks using Kimmys back yard as their spa. It’s Saturday, and it’s been raining all day today, and on and off for about three days now. When trying to find some good in lots of rain, I’ve heard it said, “Well, it’s good for ducks.” In Kimmy’s low-lying back yard, apparently, the ducks took it to heart! Read the rest of this entry ». It’s an Il-LU-sion! | blogicalinks
https://blogicalinks.wordpress.com/2009/08/27/its-an-il-lu-sion
Seeking sharing venting whatever…ing. It’s an Il-LU-sion! I started off thinking that I was going to blog about color and light, and how, without light, there is no true “color.” But the more I thought about it and read about it, the more my stream of consciousness took me into some murky backwaters. The thought of trying to explain what I was thinking, and the implications of it all was almost existential. For goodness sake! Well, the animation would not work when I published this. Seeking sharing venting whatever…ing. I sat here for a while, trying to think of something to write about tonight… something profound and moving. However, I believe my brain is running on empty after a day of thinking hard at work. (If only there was a way to turning thinking and problem solving into some sort of caloric activity! Anyway, I couldn’t come up with anything, so I’m just sharing a couple of photos I really like, one in an Escher. What man-made structure inspires you? It’s an Il-LU-sion!

Julie Unplugged: When you forgive....
http://julieunplugged.blogspot.com/2008/04/when-you-forgive.html
Thursday, April 24, 2008. I remember when my parents got divorced, people used to tell me, "Time will heal your pain." I hated that rhetoric. Why should my dad and his new wife get away with wrecking our family by virtue of time's ability to heal, to make us forget, to help us move on? So I vowed that time would not heal, that I would not forget, that, in fact, the pain would last. The night of the Gilbert-Lamott evening at UCLA, I found myself jarred loose from my usual thought processes. I had alre...

Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Waking up: The shift from one point of view to the another. And like me, many of my friends have gone through significant shifts (either a deepening of loyalty to their original commitments, or a radical reassessment which led to a new, changed point of view). I respect all of you (even when we disagree). I wouldn't keep you around on my FB if I didn't! Can I think about it a bit? The rightwing vision of politics has also walked in lockstep with the evangelical vision. Si...

Everybody Loves an Irish Girl: May 2008
http://everybodylovesanirishgirl.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 18, 2008. I have been visiting a friend in Reno, Nevada for the past few days and at approximately 1:44 am Pacific Time this morning I was jolted awake by a 3.0 earthquake. By most standards it was certainly no major quake but it was enough to wake me up from a sound sleep. I guess I can now scratch "Survive an earthquake" off of my life's to do list. I took a trip to Lake Tahoe yesterday and found it to be a very beautiful place. I was amazed at the sight of swimmers and kayakers.

Julie Unplugged: Inception (no spoilers)
http://julieunplugged.blogspot.com/2010/07/inception-no-spoilers.html
Saturday, July 24, 2010. The description "A cross between The Matrix and James Bond" is pretty accurate, though thankfully we aren't distracted by good-looking women pretending to be spies, offering themselves up to get laid. What fascinated me most were the assertions in the sub themes:. Holding onto guilt limits our creativity. Our subconscious is well-defended from alien points of view. We seek to alter our memories to relieve guilt. Knowing love from a parent makes a world of difference. The table to...

Julie Unplugged: What healthy looks like
http://julieunplugged.blogspot.com/2010/08/what-healthy-looks-like.html
Friday, August 06, 2010. What healthy looks like. At about that time, the "man of the house" and long term dear friend descended the steps and noticed the dog's confusion (and mine! He chuckled lightly. Kapu obeyed and returned to the house ready to eat. Bill scratched him behind the ears. Unremarkable moment in Bill's life, I'm sure. But for me, it was one of those "Oh wow! Something in me craved that forgiving, reassuring tone in my own life, let alone my dog's. And then I stood there in Bill's kitchen...

Monday, August 30, 2010. How fragile we are. There's a thin line that separates the mentally tough from those who've slipped under the rushing waters of panic and anxiety. Brave, successful, "mainstream" people one day find themselves clutching their chests and calling 911 when they feel like their hearts will burst, only to discover at the ER that they are suffering a panic attack and their hearts are fine. I've had an incredibly challenging pair of years, and it occurred to me recently that it would no...
Julie Unplugged: Eat, Pray, Love, Cover Your Ears

Monday, August 23, 2010. Eat, Pray, Love, Cover Your Ears. Don't get me wrong. I loved the book. Okay, I loved it and at times wanted to yell "Over-writing, over-writing! But Gilbert's freewheeling word play that ran off the rails at times only endeared her to me in the end. She's the kind of passionate, self-examining, self-deprecating, self-inflating person I recognize! Let me count them:. The prophecy that led Liz on her year-long, world-traveling journey began with a prophecy from a medicine man.

Blogical Disaster
Monday, May 4, 2009. So about this infamous twitter? I'm not too sure what to think of it yet. NO I have not signed up for it, for many reasons it’s probably not a good idea. For example, do people really wanna know about every time I investigate my crime scene, or if am sooo bored at work i’m debating trying to urinate on small woodland creatures for amusement? None the less as amazing as I know my posts would be to the world (possibly at my misfortune). Decisions Decisions I Know! Sunday, April 19, 2009.
blogical fallacy
Mere christianity, theology, philosophy, books, culture, life. Tuesday, February 10, 2009. The great light who rules the day is coming soon! Because I smell it. No smoke, no exhaust, no floral fragrance. I can’t smell anything, but I certainly smell ‘nothing.’. These overused words are an insult to the radiant colors dancing off of the cloud. I’ll have to welcome the sun from behind my windshield, and it will be more glorious than my eyes can bear. I will have to veil them with sunglasses just so I d...

Seeking sharing venting whatever…ing. Happy New Year, everyone! New Year’s Eve/Day is my favorite holiday. I like the fact that it comes after the somewhat stress-inducing Christmas holidays. For me, it’s usually spent with friends. The air is crisp, ballgames are a-plenty, and it’s a time for introspection, reflection, celebration, and resolution. I found a neat site earlier this year called “ MindTools.com. Do you want to achieve any artistic goals? If so, what? I have to stop procrastinating when I ha...
