Echo and Hum: April 2008
http://echoandhum.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Welcome to my blog, Echo and Hum, a place where I can share the random thoughts, pictures, stories, and other happenings inside my head and outside my front door. This is a partner blog to another called " Concords Are Better. I start my first post with one of the very finest things in life - beer. Even better, a beer with an owl on its label! It's a Japanese wheat beer (who's ever heard of that? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Echo and Hum: September 2008
http://echoandhum.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2008. The root of the problem. Who knew that endodontic therapy is the same as the common term "root canal? Anyway, like I said, the procedure was not all that bad. They gave me several shots and numbed me all up. Then he started drilling and the sound was so loud and high-pitched (and damnit, I had my iPod but forgot to charge it! And suddenly I felt. The best part is, I had a fancy frozen drink tonight and swished it around on my tooth and didn't feel a thing. It was great! And s...

Echo and Hum: The ups and downs of snow days
http://echoandhum.blogspot.com/2008/12/ups-and-downs-of-snow-days.html
Friday, December 19, 2008. The ups and downs of snow days. I know, a whole month has gone by since I last wrote. What the hell have I been doing in the last month, you ask? That's a very good question. I've been busy. Very, very busy. Doing things. Great, now you're all caught up on my life! Unfortunately, things will change in January, when several new projects will hit the fan. My only regret about this whole snowed-in situation is not having full cable. I'm so bored with the limited number of chan...

Echo and Hum: May 2008
http://echoandhum.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 31, 2008. Greetings from the Golden State. We're here in Berkeley at Cafe Strada sipping a mocha in the glorious sunshine, er, I mean overcast coolness. We've spent all our money on tie-dyed clothing, hemp, and bongs. Not really. We're checking out Brian's old hood, his old school (Berkeley), and Telegraph Ave. Tonight we make a head start on the drive home, and tomorrow we look forward to a loong drive home on the freeway. Speaking of Seattle, we look forward to finally being home! It's be...

Concords Are Better: February 2011
http://concordsarebetter.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 10, 2011. Back in the late 90's, I started listening to the music of Robert Wyatt, a British art rock musician. One of the first albums of his that I heard, and the one that really impressed me, was Rock Bottom. A different critic probably reviewed the second reissue, but it still annoyed me that there could be that much inconsistency. So I searched their archived reviews and found something even more troubling: they deleted the previous review! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Concords Are Better: Giant Sand - Giant Sandwich
http://concordsarebetter.blogspot.com/2011/01/giant-sand-giant-sandwich.html
Friday, January 14, 2011. Giant Sand - Giant Sandwich. A good place to start with this band is Giant Sandwich, which is a compilation of highlights and outtakes from their 80's albums. It's good enough to make you forget about all the negative things in Arizona, at least for a moment. Check out the soundclip below:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Overheard in New York. Quest For Manuka: July 2009
http://questformanuka.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 17, 2009. I've Been Looking So Long. By the way, the Cure are still putting out albums - and they are still pretty good - and they are still touring. Who would have guessed that these guys would have this kind of staying power? Your Hands and Feet are Mangoes. By the way, check out Carrie Brownstein's (of Sleater-Kinney) blog on NPR about learning to love Phish. She "doesn't get it" but is trying to figure it all out. Pretty funny. Monday, April 27, 2009. Hunting the Horny Back Toad. 22 Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: Elton John. Earlier on I dissed double albums and claimed I didnt have the patience for them. That's true, but this one falls through the cracks because my first copy of it was on CD, and it fits on one CD! I have a friend who is also blogging his favorites. And we are in surprise agreement on some things. We even both had this one at #22! There Goes the Fear. Thursday, April 23, 2009. I Left My Soul There. Like November R...
