Gigi's Crafts: What's up with all the green?
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015/08/whats-up-with-all-green.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. What's up with all the green? I don't really like green. I mean, green has its places, but my house doesn't have much green in it except for small amounts of seasonal decor, and my wardrobe has even less. Emeralds, peridot and marcasite don't count. When it comes to gem stones, all colors are wonderful! The first one was written about yesterday, seen here. I picked out the green pencils as if they were old friends. Behind the 65, I attached a small piece of bright lime green pape...

Gigi's Crafts: May 2015
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. In the previous post I wrote about an heirloom style baby quilt that was made years ago at a Martha Pullen school. I also made a baby bonnet during those three days of classes but it wasn't ironed when I wrote that post. A little spray starch and quick touch up with the iron and it is as pretty now as it was 20 years ago. The Princess, just a few days old. Do you believe in kismet? When I took the quilt, sweaters and bonnet over to their house yesterday, my daughter-in-law showed...

Gigi's Crafts: a TALL birthday greeting
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-tall-birthday-greeting.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. A TALL birthday greeting. Shhhdon't tell my niece I've made her a giraffe card. She is a lovely young woman (even when she isn't feeling so young because of a teenager in the house! Who is tall, blond and has always liked giraffes. Using Stampin' Up punches, this is the card I made. The card began with a 4.25" x 11" base (blue), scored at 2.75" and 5.5". The white paper was cut at 4" x 5.25" and two pieces at 4" x 2.5". A white pen added a highlight to his eyes and a bow was tied ...

Gigi's Crafts: Sew, what do you think?
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015/08/sew-what-do-you-think.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. Sew, what do you think? I am going out with my sewing buddy tomorrow and I have a little surprise for her. We are both of a mindset to de-clutter our homes but we both still enjoy making things. We're more selective in what we acquire now. What I have for her isn't much, just a "thinking of you" item as is this card that I made to go with the item. On to the details:. The stamps used are all from the same set, Hero Arts CL 452. Prismacolor pencils were used to color in the model.

Gigi's Crafts: September 2014
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Odds and ends for the end of the month. Both bathrooms got a top to bottom scrubbing the following day. If you're wondering what the circles are on the right, those are 5 round mirrors with red dotted ribbon running from hook to ceiling. I did that for Christmas and liked it so much, I left them that way. I normally don't use black towels in here, but I've added them and a black rug for Halloween. Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Zenish Doodling on Note Cards. I guess I should ...

Gigi's Crafts: Time flies, like a buzzard
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015/08/time-flies-like-buzzard.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Time flies, like a buzzard. Where is the summer going? Time sure does fly. My brother-in-law's birthday is a few days from now. Most of us who make cards struggle with cards for men. When in doubt, my first choice is something humorous. Come to think of it, that is my first choice even when doubt isn't involved. I used Art Impressions Buzzard Set. Does the following apply to you? I've been going through them, deleting repeats (I thought Pinterest was supposed to catch them?

Gigi's Crafts: Watermelon, anyone?
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015/07/watermelon-anyone.html
Thursday, July 16, 2015. This was a lesson in Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils from an online class through Vanilla Arts. I wrote about my instructor in my previous post (here). This month's class was this stack of watermelon wedges minus the word Summer. I added that, for better or worse, for my own reasons. This second photo was taken in direct sunlight with the camera on an angle. It shows some of the penciled work and the touch of star glaze (a gelly roll pen) added to the lettering. The more I ...

Gigi's Crafts: October 2014
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 29, 2014. A simple card to let a friend know I've been thinking of her. Sizzix Circle Flip It die #657586 was used to cut the card base. I trimmed it down to fit an envelope. The card, as cut from the die, requires a square envelope which costs 11 cents more to mail. It isn't so much the extra postage as not having the right stamp on hand that bugs me. The stamps used are from Inky Antics, #11171 Coffee Mouse. I used various Copic markers to color the images. Sunday, October 26, 2014.

Gigi's Crafts: February 2015
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 14, 2015. Everyone appreciates cold, hard cash as a birthday gift, right? If you're a great-nephew of mine, you don't simply get that in an envelope though.that would be too ordinary. Start with a pan, in this case a disposable loaf pan. Add a bit of water and freeze it. Place the cash in a freezer bag and place it over the ice. Adding water on top of this causes the baggie to float to the surface so weigh it down with ice cubes for a while. The dark haired boy in the navy shirt has a ...

Gigi's Crafts: RetireMints and a card
http://gigiscrafts.blogspot.com/2015/07/retiremints-and-card.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. RetireMints and a card. Yesterday was a surprise retirement party for our daughter-in-law's father. The dear man did not want a party but when you are loved by your wife, kids and extended family.you get a party. He was truly surprised and everyone had a good time. I should not have rushed when cutting out the greeting for the top of the Altoid mint tin. The words are going a tad uphill but hey, don't we all want our retirement to be looking up?
