Instruments that leave traces…. Traces left on instruments…. Instruments without trace…. MSc Exhibition at the Museum of the History of Science 2012. Two to go…. May 9th, 2012. The traces team would like to extend our appreciation to three museum patrons who have successfully identified one of the three unknown objects in the ‘instruments without a trace’ case. Inside MHS Oxford - Stories from the Museum of the History of Science, University of Oxford

http://blogs.mhs.ox.ac.uk/insidemhs

Stories from the Museum of the History of Science, University of Oxford. We were recently asked by the University’s Development Office for an example of a donation with a striking story. What could be nicer than drawing out the extraordinarily detailed implications of a single piece of throwaway paper from the 18th century, and celebrating the generosity of a remarkable but modest benefactor? A rare piece of ephemera: Benjamin Martin’s lecture syllabus. This ten page ‘publication’ is now accessioned and ...

The roof decorators had left their names and the date of their work painted onto the woodwork for future generations to discover. 8220;This roof was painted by G. Thicke and J Randall, April 1864”. In the 90s...
