GriphZero: January 2006
http://griphzero.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 04, 2006. Every year I have to do the same analysis over again. What tax software to buy this year? There are three companies to choice from: TaxACT, TaxCut, and TurboTax. This year I received TaxCut Federal in the mail for free, but before jumping on it I thought I would first find out what the actual cost for it and it's competitors would be. 1995 Ultimate federal and state CD $19.95. 000 State e-file (I think this is also free). 000 federal e-file (after mail-in rebate). Deluxe fede...

Saturday, October 15, 2005. This is my first post. It was hard to decided on what to write about first, but I decided to write about how I study beginning Japanese, and what my recommendations are. I have been studying Japanese for a number of years now, and have tried all sorts of books, tapes, and courses and have finally found a set of material that works for me. 1 The instructional CD set I highly recommend is Pimsleur's Comprehensive Japanese. And Teach Yourself Beginner's Japanese. 3 You should lea...

Monday, July 26, 2004. Homebrew experiments to try. I'm probably going to start to brew some beer again, and I've been mulling over ideas for new recipes. I'll probably start with a straightforward IPA just to get back in the swing of things, but the real fun of homebrew is making off-the-wall beers that you can't just go out and buy. Orange IPA: I think a very, very mild orange hint could make a very interesting IPA. I said mild! Posted by IvyMike @ 7/26/2004 10:11:00 PM. I'm not sure why he did it, but...

Monday, March 28, 2005. Tamiya REPSOL Honda RC211V. Originally uploaded by IvyMike. Yet another model from 2003. I ordered this model on a whim; it was my second Tamiya kit, and the first one where I did any painting at all. (And I want to point out that I painted the orange and blue areas by hand, with a brush, and without any sanding.). Originally uploaded by IvyMike. I was just as pleased as Punch with my results, even though Tamiya should probably get most of the credit. Starts to suggest ". We saw t...

Thursday, June 30, 2005. Construction Equipment Fantasy Camp" is a reality. An enterprising construction contractor in Germany has come up with a money-making scheme for putting his idle machinery to use on weekends - by turning his bulldozer lot into a theme park where boys of all ages can come and make that childhood dream come true. Posted by IvyMike @ 6/30/2005 11:35:00 PM. Sunday, June 26, 2005. I watched the documentary " Genghis Blues. Posted by IvyMike @ 6/26/2005 11:56:00 PM. Picture of the rece...

Sunday, July 31, 2005. Sycamore Canyon Hike Map. Originally uploaded by IvyMike. I took Friday off and hiked through Sycamore Canyon. A 16- mile round-trip hike in the Point Mugu State Park. In Southern California. It was quite a bit longer than my normal hikes, and I thought I was sore after the hike. As it turns out, that was child's play compared to when I woke up this morning. The link on the photo goes to a (soon-to-be-annotated) Flickr gallery of photos from the hike. And the heart rate monitor:.

Saturday, February 26, 2005. Brewing notes: Could they get any more exciting? I didn't intend for this to just be a blog of my brewing notes. I've swear I'm not usually quite this boring; it's just a lot easier to post mindless transcriptions than come up with something creative. Posted by IvyMike @ 2/26/2005 12:15:00 AM. Batch 6: Extra Special Bitter. Back to partial mash kits from Seven Bridges. I'm too lazy to type the whole list of ingredients now, maybe later. Final alcohol content 4.6% ABV. Moved t...
