Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Friday night lights (and cymbals). This past Friday was the first home game for the El Toro Chargers Football team,. Which also means it was the debut of the El Toro Royal Blue Regiment (aka Marching Band). Featuring Jack on cymbals! Despite being a very WARM evening, Jack seemed very happy all suited up in his marching band uniform, enthusiastically clapping away on the cymbals. I did my duty with the video camera, recording most of Jack's performances. I had some batter...

Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Australia Day the Second. Last year on Australia Day we were on our flight to SYD. The flight attendants all had Aussie flags tatooed to their cheeks/foreheads. Lots of passengers had a couple. Cocktails. We were mostly just excited to be reunited with Matt; wondering if Australia would be as we'd imagined (hot desert, kangaroos hopping every which way.); craving a shower and a bed. Sigh for Dr. Spark*. So here's the deal with the sausage sizzles. Everywhere you gather du...

Sunday, March 10, 2013. Have you ever seen a Drumline competition? Well, I hadn't, but I got the opportunity this past Saturday to see Jack and the El Toro Drumline compete in Aliso Viejo. I wasn't sure what to expect, walking in and seeing some of the costumes and hearing some of the other worldly soundtracks of the other competing schools. But when Jack and his crew took the floor it was clear they were the absolute best, and you can take that straight from me, his mother. Links to this post. This is t...

Wednesday, March 16, 2011. The Ice Castle (part 3). There are many ways to enjoy ice fishing. The slightly less miserable way. This guy must enjoy ice skating when no one is looking). The way we went ice fishing -. In Uncle Doug's brand spankin' new. Doesn't she look warm and comfy? First we stopped to pick up a little fresh bait. Tuesday, June 7, 2011. We finally have another boy in the family! And he's turning 5 today! His name is Aravind and he lives in India. Kenzie met him last summer and knew he was 'the one' for us (to sponsor and love). He has the cutest little smile, see? He's shy at first (so I'm told). But after a bit, his spunky side comes out. He loves to play on the playground. He's working hard at school, too, learning his letters and numbers. He is quite an excellent color-er! Because so many in India still believe.

Saturday, May 15, 2010. Boys vs. Girls. Just for end-of-season fun, MVHS Lacrosse players held a Boys vs. Girls game. The girls started out super competitive as the boys struggled to play by the girls' game rules using the girls' sticks (boys are used to having a much deeper pocket to hold the ball). They'd shoot and be shocked when the ball would sail high over the goal.or lose the ball and not know it, but still take shots with nothing in their stick. Here's a few of Abbie's favorite and loyal. That bo...
