In 1960, a group of families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds came together because they shared a common purpose: the creation of a free, integrated preschool for their children in their upper Manhattan community. Their vision and commitment provided the foundation for what became known as "The Bloomingdale Family Program". The program enjoys a national and international reputation for excellence. Families must fall within Federal Poverty Guidelines to be eligible for Head Start services. For families of more than 8 people, add $4,060 for each additional person. Note: These guidelines apply to families nationally, and while 10 percent of our families may have somewhat higher income levels, there is no adjustment for the cost of living in New York City. Your contributions are vital to Bloomingdale's work.

Bloomingdale's classrooms accept children between the ages of two-and-nine-months and three-and-nine months as of September 1. To be eligible for Head Start, family income must fall within federal guidelines. Ten percent of our families may be above these income guidelines. Bring your child to any of our three sites, from Monday through Thursday, between 9 AM and 3 PM. You will need the following documents to register your child:. Your child's Immunization Card.
