In which Bloompy Searches for Comfortable Places to Snooze, to Spa, and to Savor the Good Life. Saturday, September 09, 2006. The W Hotel (San Francisco, California, USA). For a hotel that strove to present itself as hip, the chain should have employed the use of flat screen or plasma televisions. Instead, in both of the locations where I have stayed, cathode-ray tubes were mounted on a pivotable-platform and enshrined in an entertainment center that could be closed up. How quaint! San Francisco, CA 94103.

In which Bloompy Searches for Comfortable Places to Snooze, to Spa, and to Savor the Good Life. Tuesday, November 29, 2005. Park Hyatt Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam). The second room, another standard room, had an alarm clock (which made me realize that the first room was missing one). These standard rooms are not the most perfect for a two-person occupancy, unless one devices a schedule for bathroom use (there was only one basin). Even a standard room at Ritz Carlton would have two basins. If and wh...

In which Bloompy Searches for Comfortable Places to Snooze, to Spa, and to Savor the Good Life. Thursday, January 19, 2006. Grand Hyatt San Francisco (California, USA). Hyatt's almost square-like building makes the corridor within much shorter than a typical hotel, which can be a nice feature, eliminating the need of trotting a long way from the elevator to your room. The Hong Kong Ritz Carlton has a similar feature. It works for me. Grand Hyatt San Francisco. 345 Stockton Street,. Links to this post.

In which Bloompy Searches for Comfortable Places to Snooze, to Spa, and to Savor the Good Life. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. The W Hotel (Seattle, Washington, USA). My companion and I sat at the bar one late afternoon, which was very relaxing and enjoyable. The bar itself had a tall shelves of liquors that were cleverly lit. Peopl huddled over peanuts and drinks, while some were seen working with their laptop, taking advantage of the WiFi connection. The W Hotel Seattle. Seattle, WA 98101. Links to this post.

In which Bloompy Searches for Comfortable Places to Snooze, to Spa, and to Savor the Good Life. Thursday, March 15, 2007. Fastforward to 2005 when I found myself taken by my cousins to the lobby and the lounge of Alila Jakarta after dinner elsewhere. At that time the hotel seemed to have just been opened: minimalist in its approach, but with a certain je ne sais quoi that was a bit off. Two years later, 2007, I finally found out what that je-ne-sais-quoi was . . . Jalan Pecenongan Kav 7-17.

The Blogs of Bloompy. Bloompy's Old Blog about Life in Tokyo and Some Other Travel Notes. Sunday, June 29, 2008. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when we decided not to bring our entire belongings and opted to do the traditiona Sayonara Sale. A sort of garage sale staged by departing expatriates. I took pictures, posted them in an online site, advertised for the sale at the free weekly English magazine Metropolis. To go to the Sayonara Sale. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Blogs of Bloompy. Bloompy's Old Blog about Life in Tokyo and Some Other Travel Notes. Saturday, June 14, 2008. Between the last entry and today's, many things had taken place, most of which were family matters that included sickness and death. Sorry for the absence. But, as I had mentioned above, I was in the middle of thinking about revamping this site, so perhaps with the move, I can have a new start, a new life again. Links to this post.
