The Blotter
http://www.blotterrag.com/about-us.html
Is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. That organization currently publishes The Blotter Magazine. Our editorial direction draws equally from classic and mundane, sublime beauty and a good Saturday-morning sugar buzz. What would be fun for our readers? What would yank their chains? What would make them laugh, or cry? How can we teach old dogs a new trick or two? Every emotion is fair game.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. How Are You Going To Keep Them Down On The (Server) Farm? Once you find what you love to do, it's painfully difficult to go back and do what you need to do. Yesterday, I was practically bouncing in my chair. Was it solving the impossible problem that was dropped in my lap with no documentation that had me doing a Tigger all day, or was it that I conceived and wrote a 100 word short story (a form I've been meaning to try for a while) on my drive to work? Posted by Rich Ocheis.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Putting the work in your works. There are two people who seem to want to get in the way of good writing, and the vile pair have an insidious hiding place: inside of us. But its work worth doing. If we want to not just write, but write well, we need to do the work. Readers will see the difference between the scribbler who simply vomits words onto a page, and the artist who carefully and lovingly crafts something magical. Posted by Rich Ocheis. Wednesday, August 20, 2008. For me, ...

Monday, June 30, 2008. I'm hearing voices again. Only now do I realize that I'm hearing too many different voices. In retrospect, it's obvious. How could I have not noticed it? I very consciously choose to have characters speak in their own voices. If a character is a kid, he should talk like a kid, not like a literature professor. I don't think anyone would argue that point. Posted by Rich Ocheis. Sunday, June 29, 2008. The end is nigh! No, the world isn't coming to an untimely demise. At least, not...

Monday, September 29, 2008. Creatively snacking, and missing meals. Never go shopping when youre hungry. Ages-old wisdom weve all heard, and may of us try and abide by. When were hungry, who knows what may end up in our shopping baskets? Did you really need sixteen different types of cookies? Sure, youd like something to snack upon with your tea (must buy more tea, too! It turns out, that the same thing can happen when youre creatively hungry. Whod a thunk it? What else can I build? Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Sara and Hannah were part of the Wasatch High Swim Team. Practices were everyday after school and some early mornings for 4 months. I got to hand it to them for sticking with it. Who likes to get wet everyday? They had some fun times. They went to 2 meets in St. George and were constantly having pasta parites. All the girls dyed the ends of their hair black 2 weeks before state. This is Hannah. You can just see that glistening swimmer shine! Labels: Wasatch High Swimmers.
