Bluefluff 2.0: Facebook
http://bluefluff2point0.blogspot.com/2007/09/facebook.html
An Open University tutor's explorations of Web 2.0 technologies. Saturday, 15 September 2007. I've been spending a lot of time on Facebook. Recently. I'm confident and comfortable enough there now to admit publicly that I'd steered clear of it for ages because I had it confused with Faceparty. Hangout of teens and thrill-seekers with money to spend on its more, um,. There's no doubt that Facebook is becoming increasingly pervasive. Just two illustrations, one positive and one negative:. I'm not yet convi...

An Open University tutor's explorations of Web 2.0 technologies. Monday, 29 October 2007. Seeing the wood for the trees. Caught up with an interesting two and a half year old piece by David Weinberger today: Trees and tags - Introduction. As so often, Weinberger's creative - almost poetic - use of analogies brings into focus a topic that had only been in my peripheral vision up to now. This time it was social bookmarking. I've been using del.icio.us. I can then add it to my del.icio.us collection...I lik...

Bluefluff 2.0: What is Web 2.0 anyway?
http://bluefluff2point0.blogspot.com/2007/09/what-is-web-20-anyway.html
An Open University tutor's explorations of Web 2.0 technologies. Friday, 14 September 2007. What is Web 2.0 anyway? Good question, and I'm only bluffing my way around the topic myself! Current take on it:. The phrase Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies — which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.". As far as social networking is concerned, my MySpace page. Is only just ...

Friday, October 28, 2005. Was confronted with this while posting a comment to Kat's blog. Posted by bluefluff @ 11:50 PM. Sunday, October 23, 2005. Last week, I couldn't have had this experience. Http:/ www.leonardcohenimyourman.com/. Click the "clip" link. I don't suppose we'll see the film in England, but there'll be a DVD, won't there? Leonard Cohen has been the soundtrack to my life, right from the time I fell out with a schoolfriend back in 1968-ish over the lyrics of. Songs of Leonard Cohen. There'...

Wednesday, November 30, 2005. OU makes important discovery. Can't decide whether to head for server 1 or server 2 for that next course? Dithering over whether you should indulge or suppress your creative side? You must read these research findings. Posted by bluefluff @ 10:17 AM. Posted by bluefluff @ 3:15 AM. Friday, September 14, 2007. Inspired by Martin Weller's slidecast. I've started a new blog. It's not really a case of "Bluefluff is dead - long live Bluefluff" because I'll still be blogging here, too. It's just that part of me needed to move on :-). Posted by bluefluff @ 3:37 AM. Grimsby, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. A day of two halves. Why theres not much Latin here. One for the smokers. In the beginning was the word. The long and short of it. bluefluff's blue fluff: July 2005
http://bluefluff.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 31, 2005. Was in the kitchen tonight, idly drying my hands and staring vacantly at the grotty area under the radiator where the towel hangs. (Everyone has grotty areas under the radiator, right? What's more, there were rather a lot of them, and they were heading out of the grotty area under the radiator as fast as their little legs would carry them. Uttered a few expletives under my breath (not too loud, as daughter #3 was watching Alien. Apologies to any ant-lovers out there.). Then went ro...

bluefluff's blue fluff: August 2005
http://bluefluff.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Despite what it says at the top of my posting, in my head it simply isn't. Wednesday. Until I've made a token effort at sleeping, it's still Tuesday. So which is right? The objective, 'scientific' recording of the passage of time, or somebody's subjective, experience-based perception of time? If the rest of the world agrees that it's Wednesday, then it would be arrogant of me to disagree, and I don't really do arrogant. I do brandied pseudo-intellectual ramblings, though :-).

Friday, February 24, 2006. Pension update update :-). Anyone who has been following the saga. Will be pleased to know that Alan is now a pensioner! Not that he has retired, really - he'll still be doing all his exam work - but he'll never need to set foot inside a classroom again or sit dreading the phone ringing. What's more, they've backdated it to 9th December, which is when it should have started anyway, before NEL messed it up. I do love a happy ending :-). Posted by bluefluff @ 10:48 PM. So I hoist...

Thursday, November 05, 2015. Haven't posted here for a long, long time, but wanted somewhere to park this. I've been trying to persuade my MP to sign EDM 509. In defence of the OU's regional centres and tonight wrote him this essay in response to his very reasonable queries:. Thank you very much for this considered reply. I won't be able to take up your offer of attending the surgery, but I'll try to explain my concerns a little more. Thank you for listening. Dr B L.Dixon). Posted by bluefluff @ 2:54 AM.

Random Bits of Thought
Random Bits of Thought. Friday, October 24, 2014. It was several years later that I found out that it was a popular piece of music, and often played at weddings. It has always seemed like the perfect love song to me. The music itself is a love story. It starts off slowly and kind of awkwardly, and as you listen to it you're thinking "Is this ever going to go anywhere? Is this actually what I wanted? Friday, January 18, 2013.
