Some of my thoughts regarding all things Bluegrass! Saturday, September 19, 2009. Bluegrass Unashamed Magazine - September 2009 Issue. Okay folks, I know at least one person who looks forward to seeing who is going to be on the next Bluegrass Unashamed magazine cover - so here it is, the September 2009 issue of Bluegrass Unashamed, albeit a little late. Okay, it's a lot late - but my idea was on time, if that counts for anything. I hope you get a kick out of this months cover photo. Posted by Michael Flo...

Bluegrass Friends Blog: Isn't She a Beauty?

http://bluegrassfriends.blogspot.com/2008/02/isnt-she-beauty.html

Some of my thoughts regarding all things Bluegrass! Thursday, February 07, 2008. Isn't She a Beauty? Just look at her. Isn't she a beauty? Everything from her scroll and machine heads, to her slender neck and fret board, upper bouts, c-bouts and lower bouts, top, back, sides, bridge and tailpiece; she has it all! She's a 1963 model. Pretty as a picture, she is! And she makes a fine piece of furniture too! You thought I was talking about the Bluegrass Widow? Fine piece of furniture. I've just been taking ...

Some of my thoughts regarding all things Bluegrass! Tuesday, March 04, 2008. I Walked Into It - Again! Earlier this afternoon I was discussing transportation plans for tonight with the Bluegrass Widow. I have to practice with Kenny, Deek and Loraine for an upcoming gig at Rocmaura Nursing Home. The Widow and I have been down to one vehicle for the last few years and transportation to and from all of the events in our lives can be troublesome from time to time. Bluegrass Friends Blog: The Importance of Practicing Wth a Metronome

http://bluegrassfriends.blogspot.com/2008/10/importance-of-practicing-wth-metronome.html

Some of my thoughts regarding all things Bluegrass! Sunday, October 05, 2008. The Importance of Practicing Wth a Metronome. It seems I'm forever offering advice to my fellow musician friends about the importance of getting the fundamentals of their chosen instrument(s) under their belt before worrying about learning a bunch of songs that are beyond their current capabilities. Sometimes I am asked for my opinion; at other times I simply offer it up - like the rest of the world. So big deal - it's boring!

Bluegrass Friends Blog: July 2006

http://bluegrassfriends.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Some of my thoughts regarding all things Bluegrass! Friday, July 21, 2006. Huber Banjo on the Way. Within an hour after getting home from the Cherryholmes concert on Grand Manan Island (July 4, 2006) , I was on the telephone talking to Steve Huber. Because of the long list of people ahead of me, I have at least 2 months to decide on the final configuration of the banjo. I ordered a Lexington model Huber. I could save a lot of money without it. V-neck or standard profile neck? Speed neck or finished neck?

Tales of a Bluegrass Widow. Sunday, March 8, 2009. Interview - 14 Minutes with Kenny Innis. Just before Christmas 2008, Michael and I recorded a series of interviews with some of our Bluegrass friends. The intent of the interviews is for the inclusion on a DVD slideshow that will highlight some of the events we've shared as a result of our common interest in Bluegrass music. Tales of a Bluegrass Widow. Wednesday, July 15, 2009. The Floor is Clean.Sort of. Been going through a lot of family stuff lately. As I wrote that I wondered if they (my family of origin) also think we are going through "family stuff" or if they are oblivious to it all. I'm not sure of what they may be thinking, but I know beyond a doubt, I am going through FAMILY STUFF. Are you kidding me? Whaddya mean my twenty year old daughter is invited to your staggette party, but I'm not? Are you kidding me? Well ...

http://bluegrasswidow.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Tales of a Bluegrass Widow. Sunday, April 12, 2009. Bane-Jo of My Existence. As I was drifting to sleep last night to the melodic and wistful lulling sound of “Ground Hog” being hammered on the banjo by my darling, I was thinking of a blog. Unfortunately, when I woke up, all I could remember was Ground Hog. It’s a beaut, let me tell you. But I did a bit of jumping up and down and clapping my hands together that a purchase had been made at BIRKS, which is a very high-end jewelry store in uptown Saint John...

Bluegrass Widow: Does Anyone Want a Bass?

http://bluegrasswidow.blogspot.com/2009/08/does-anyone-want-bass.html

Tales of a Bluegrass Widow. Friday, August 7, 2009. Does Anyone Want a Bass? We have a stand up bass in the corner of our livingroom. Big deal, you may say, but since there is not a great deal of real estate in the livingroom, the bass, or at least it's size, do indeed become a big deal. Whatever. Then, the second person carefully pulls the bass toward her at an impressive angle, and seeing that the bottom of the bass is now actually in the car, eases the bass backwards carefully, and then down, so a...

Tales of a Bluegrass Widow. Sunday, August 24, 2008. Over the ensuing weeks the thought went through my mind how long too long was, but I don’t like the messiness of dying my hair, and even though I was mildly curious about her warning, I didn’t ask, and didn’t dye my hair. Ring, ring, ring. Recorded Voice of someone that was clearly not having a hair emergency. “Welcome to the Clairol Hotline.
