A Little Piece of Prairie. A journal from the world's smallest prairie (I think). Our prairie is particularly colorful this spring. We aren't sure if it it because we burned this spring (second spring in a row) or because it has been dry or. but whatever the reason we are enjoying the view. We have rattlesnake master with a side of butterfly weed. Purple prarie coneflower mixed with butterfly weed and a bit of black-eyed susan. Leadplant backed by butterfly weed and black-eyed susan.

A Little Piece of Prairie. A journal from the world's smallest prairie (I think). The sunflowers have been very prolific this year. We had a cool, wet August which seems to have tricked them into thinking it was a long fall. This one we propped up with the birdfeeder crook. The Heath Asters are almost done but they covered the hill and made a lovely show. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The sunflowers have been very prolific this ye. A Little Piece of Prairie. A journal from the world's smallest prairie (I think). It has been very dry this year so we have lots of butterfly weed and the color is particularly intense. We don't have much Coriopsis this year and it has just started blooming but the little yellow finches have already started flitting around the blooms. The Coriopsis seeds are like catnip to them and they can barely wait for the flowers to finish blooming before they eat the seeds. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

I'm not sure why TGPB thinks these seeds need help spreading- they are small furry triangles that stick to everything and in a month I'll be picking them off of our clothes and carpets. A Little Piece of Prairie. A journal from the world's smallest prairie (I think). The prairie has gotten more colorful in the past week.
