Vespa Vagabond: An Interview of Sorts
http://vespa-vagabond.blogspot.com/2011/05/got-email-from-chica-who-is-planning-to.html
From san francisco to new york city on a vespa. An Interview of Sorts. Got an email from a chica who is planning to ride from Santa Cruz to Georgia on her Vespa 250. Here are the Q's she sent me, and my answers. How long did you have your Vespa before you went on your journey? How long did you plan for the trip itself? Did you go on any long-ish trips to practice before you left? Nope But I would recommend it, as per above! Did you take a Motorcycle Safety Course, or did you just read a safety book?

SUSAN MICHAEL BARRETT: My first meditation with Thây
http://www.susanmichaelbarrett.com/2013/10/practicing-diligence-maintaining.html
A few wonder moments. My first meditation with Thây. I recently spent six days at. In Batesville, Mississippi with about 900 others in a mostly silent retreat with. And a monastic community. This is the fourth consecutive post in a series of six about my experience. I get up for a closer glimpse of a lacey peach-colored creature about two inches in diameter. Multiple eyes open and close slowly. It looks like a sea anemone. Floating wavily, its legs prance like a New York City Rockette. I pause and gasp a...

In Which We Update Many Unrelated Things | The Shambles under Highland Butte
https://skepweaver.wordpress.com/2013/07/28/in-which-we-update-many-unrelated-things
The Shambles under Highland Butte. Life on and off a small farm in Oregon. In Which We Update Many Unrelated Things. This post is a miscellany. And how time does fly! I promised to be more diligent here, and haven’t lived up to my word. But we got it in. It’s like appreciating a pantry full of jars of peaches, when we look at the barn loft full of sweet-smelling, square-baled grass. And I admit to some self admiration when I reflect:. One more year. I can still do it. Earthworms are good news! Look who s...

SUSAN MICHAEL BARRETT: Wake up, Susan. Beginner camping at Magnolia Grove Monastery gives me new insight.
http://www.susanmichaelbarrett.com/2013/10/wake-up-susan-beginner-camping-at.html
A few wonder moments. Wake up, Susan. Beginner camping at Magnolia Grove Monastery gives me new insight. I recently spent six days at. In Batesville, Mississippi with about 900 others in a mostly silent retreat with. And a monastic community. This is the third consecutive post in a series about my experience. I wake at 4:30 AM, stretch, and gather a towel, toiletries, and clothes I placed on my bed rail before going to sleep. I slowly open the cabin door oh so quietly as not to wake my two roommates.

SUSAN MICHAEL BARRETT: A circuitous route to deep listening while on retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh
http://www.susanmichaelbarrett.com/2013/10/a-circuitous-route-to-deep-listening.html
A few wonder moments. A circuitous route to deep listening while on retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh. I spent six days at. In Batesville, Mississippi with about 900 others in a mostly silent retreat with. Thich Nhat Hanh (. And a monastic community. This is the first in a series of posts about my experience. I look forward to this retreat for almost a year. In excitement, I tell practically everyone I know. Some of you I tell twice (forgive me, if you’re one of them). I arrive anxious and full of energy.

More or Less EJS. Finally Back to Weaving →. August 19, 2013. After having been to a couple of classes it was time for me to venture out on my own. Time to take what I had learned and see what I could do with it. I had become very enamored with weaving with a rag weft so that is where I went first. The beautiful batiks that are available, with all their bright colors, make weaving with them very exciting. Purple is my favorite color and this project turned out to be predominately purple. However, I absol...

SUSAN MICHAEL BARRETT: I heard a woman crying in the airport bathroom
http://www.susanmichaelbarrett.com/2013/04/i-heard-woman-crying-in-airport-bathroom.html
A few wonder moments. I heard a woman crying in the airport bathroom. Manon Gauthier, illustrator. Portrait: Elinore et l'oiseau. Elinore and the bird. I watch people. I sometimes write about these experiences. I share what I see, think, and feel. And what I learn. Karen Casey says in her book Cultivating Hope. 8220;Every person is holy, every encounter is holy.” I believe that. Especially after this:. 8221; I wait for her to come out of the stall and ask, “May I help you? After about five minutes, we le...
