August 8, 2015. This past week, I was fortunate to be trained to give an assessment, the Gesell Developmental Observation-Revised. My school administers it to all PreK3 students and any applicants for PreK4 and kindergarten. Although I may not ever be the examiner, I will need to know how to interpret this assessment’s results and share them with parents. During the Gesell Institute. For instance, did you know you can do your child a disservice by teaching her to read. But could it also be possible that,...

For the first time, it’s offered twice a year the months of April and July as a kind of warm up for the biggie, National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo), in November. So why am I writing this when it’s almost halfway through July? There’s still tension, just not nearly as much. Although my scene isn’t the shocker that I originally planned, it’s no longer stalling the manuscript....So now that I know ...

August 2, 2016. I deleted all the games I’d downloaded, and I moved the ones that I couldn’t delete off my home screen. I started to read again. I came out of my funk and remembered that I liked to write and edit and decided to try my hand at making some money on the side. So I’ve insulated myself when I need to sleep and when I wake what about the rest of the day? Such as when I’m being a wife and mom? They’re seeing that their parents are engaged with technology rather than the family. I closed the lap...

August 16, 2015. No Back to School Blues This Year. Two years ago, I posted a blog. About the stress that surrounds the end of summer break and going back to school and I wasn’t even the one going to school. Still, as a parent of a then-five-year-old, I was fully responsible for getting him there on time every day and felt that pressure. I don’t even remember if I had the same feeling last year I was probably too busy to notice. The night before the first day back will likely be a sleepless one. I...

Customer No Service | Full-Time Writer Mom

May 2, 2015. It’s the stuff frustration is made of: You have trouble with your internet, and try as you might to troubleshoot the problem, you have to make the inevitable call for service. You get charged an extra $80 on your next bill. It’s sad that although we dread these customer no service encounters, we’ve come to expect them. It’s almost as if it’s a prerequisite for the big companies which makes the companies with. But since when did this extend to doctors the people we trust to take care of us?
