Monday, May 31, 2010. Ynken was on the Boy Scouts 100th Anniversary Camporee this weekend at Goshen. The last such Camporee was sometime back in 1970-something; the next one is likely not until the Boy Scouts' 150th anniversary. So, in that sense it was fairly historic. I love a good party just as much as the next guy and I love costumes too, but I kind of feel about Halloween the same way I feel about Mardis Gras. They are celebrating the wrong day. And it's just bad liturgy. With Mardis Gras you get Fat Tuesday, but skip out on Ash Wednesday. And Lent. What's really the point then, except to party to excess? And St. Agnes. Sunday, March 29, 2015. Just discovered another career I never want to have - piano mover. Another buddy and I just helped my brother get a "free" piano from a lovely couple who are retiring to someplace warmer. Lifting a piano up stairs and into a pickup truck without benefit of a ramp was . horrible to say the least. Friday, April 3, 2015. Sorrowful: The Pathos Is Palpable. I find it highly appropriate when it rains on Good Friday as it did today. It feels like the Father weeping at the death of his dearly beloved Son. When I go to the Church on this day and see the tabernacle open and empty, and the light of the Presence gone out, I feel the agony of being without Christ. The pathos is palpable.
