More Humbly Did I teach: April 2009

http://bmoreteach.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

More Humbly Did I teach. Dispatches from the Land of the Puzzle Palace: An English teacher blogs in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Paul Blart: Mall Cop. The rumors I intentionally spread last year that I was Kevin James' cousin - to the point where I showed my students the name "Kevin" on my cell phone, telling them it was him - probably didn't help matters much. But I get the Kevin James/ King of Queens. Links to this post. Friday, April 24, 2009. Links to this post. The vie...

More Humbly Did I teach. Dispatches from the Land of the Puzzle Palace: An English teacher blogs in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Saturday, May 30, 2009. Another school year down the hatch, at least with regular classes. And not a moment too soon. today, I actually screamed curse words at a colleague. Really. That is not me, although I was. More Humbly Did I teach. Dispatches from the Land of the Puzzle Palace: An English teacher blogs in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Tuesday, December 23, 2008. How the Grinch stole Christmas with a dumb schedule. I survived 2008 in school, all without holding a holiday party in my class. This isn't a teacher who wants less work (indeed, I'm a proponent of yearlong school). After all, these are easy. Having to drive 13 hours on Christmas Eve in order to make it home for Christmas kind of sucks, too.

More Humbly Did I teach. Dispatches from the Land of the Puzzle Palace: An English teacher blogs in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Tuesday, October 27, 2009. A year or so ago, Inside Ed. Crackled with energy, focusing primarily on city schools and issues therein. I rarely check it now, but stopped in last week when they were talking about technology. I made a couple of comments last week, and went back to check it out today. It hasn't been updated in 6 days. October 27, 2009 at 6:44 PM. Its declined ...

More Humbly Did I teach. Dispatches from the Land of the Puzzle Palace: An English teacher blogs in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Monday, March 30, 2009. The lake at second base. It's been good weather for ducks lately, but not baseball. Today, the game was canceled first thing in the morning, as there is a lake at second base and there was no way it would dry by the afternoon. We still practiced, dodging puddles, and it was actually probably our best practice all year. Links to this post. However, ...

SWC Geek Girl: Thing 16: You Want to Calculate What?

http://swcgeekgirl2.blogspot.com/2008/10/thing-16-you-want-to-calculate-what.html

Saturday, October 18, 2008. Thing 16: You Want to Calculate What? I ran a "simulation run" for the project my 10th graders are working on, and I'm really excited about the possibilities. I'm toying with the idea of requiring the steps and using their suggested research process rubric, but I will need to spend more time with them before I'm ready to do that. SWC Geek Girl: Thing 12: Moodley-Doodley-Doo

http://swcgeekgirl2.blogspot.com/2008/10/thing-12-moodley-doodley-doo.html

Sunday, October 12, 2008. Right now, I'm midway through the section on the Moodle demonstration. It's feeling very technical. I still feel like it was very technical. I don't even feel confident I could pull it off after doing this. I am, however, very interested in the attitudes toward thinking and learning survey. I'm trying to figure out where to fit it in in the little time we have left in the term. Where was this when I was working on my Master's degree? Posted by Meanwhile, I keep dancing.

One Room to Teach Them All. April 25, 2009. In Search of Software. Friday seems like a whirlwind, I'm done with this week’s task of trying to train the classroom teachers to use our new online math activities at IXL. Friday, surprisingly, was my largest turnout of teachers this week. April 21, 2009. April 18, 2009. One Room to Teach Them All: The Day the Internet Stood Still

http://teachbcpss.blogspot.com/2009/06/day-internet-stood-still.html

One Room to Teach Them All. June 2, 2009. The Day the Internet Stood Still. We started receiving our closeout procedure forms today, I am excited and sad to see my first year come and go. I will be happy to say that I am no longer a first year teacher. I just found out that the last two days of school I will not have any classes which will be great, though I anticipate having to do odd jobs to help the admins close the school. One Room to Teach Them All. October 6, 2008. For lack of a better title.Monday. October 4, 2008. Friday the Half Day. Friday was a great day and not just because we got paid, but also due to the fact that it was a half day with parent teacher conferences. I looked forward to meeting parents and was hoping to get some visitors, though I only received one and that was because the student wanted to show her mom the computer lab. October 1, 2008.
