The Wandering Withers: August 2006
http://wandwith.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Jacob Withers Rules the World! Thursday, August 31, 2006. The rain was lashing down on the window screen when we left Lethem; the pleasant Guyanese border town with Brazil where we stayed for a couple of days. We were suprised here, for the scenery was far more African than South American - open grassy savannah, dirt tracks and in the distance the Kanaku Mountains, shrouded in low cloud and covered with lush green vegetation. Three hours later we were on our way again only to have to stop for an hour to ...

The Wandering Withers: January 2007
http://wandwith.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Jacob Withers Rules the World! Wednesday, January 17, 2007. POTW - Obcured in Peru. Well it's still gloomy out and to be honest there hasn't really been a great deal to 'shoot'. In fact every time I've been out with my camera and armed with bright idea's the grey clouds have rendered what I have taken uninspiring (crap in other words! Anyway , I like the appeal of a moving picture within a picture and the opportunity of a different way of presenting something. Becky took a few of me too when I insisted, ...

The Wandering Withers: February 2007
http://wandwith.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Jacob Withers Rules the World! Monday, February 19, 2007. News, Sports and Weather. Hello again. Well it's now mid February already but for some reason it may as well still be January as to be honest the days are still a bit on the gloomy side at the moment, roll on March. Apart from our waltz that is which is shockingly bad. Oh well. But never mind that, I also have a cycle trip planned for March - from Poole to Snowdon! 300 miles in all over four days, and I don't even have a bike yet! This weekend als...

The Wandering Withers: May 2007
http://wandwith.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Jacob Withers Rules the World! Tuesday, May 15, 2007. A couple of weeks ago whilst enjoying a week off in the sunshine I embarked on my first ever flying lesson (a birthday present from my thoughtful wife). I decided to go alone as I thought I'd learn more if it were just myself and the instructor which proved a good call as I had to concentrate a lot but promised I'd take Becky next time. Not that anyone was there to see it! I'm still thinking about it, questioning my will and generally dithering as I'm...

The Wandering Withers: March 2007
http://wandwith.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Jacob Withers Rules the World! Thursday, March 01, 2007. The photos of course told a different story, that we had done a lot and been to some pretty good places but a winter at work and general mundaneness all round at this time of year has ensured a strong dose of holiday blues lately. So what better pick me up than a get together with our fellow volunteers and all round good people? The rest of us went into Oxford for more boozing and organisational chaos (we lost Cat and Sarah) and spent a good couple...

The Wandering Withers: July 2006
http://wandwith.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Jacob Withers Rules the World! Tuesday, July 18, 2006. Piranha fishing is supposed to be a tranquil few hours we were told. Of course, our fishing skills themselves left a bit to be desired and the whole thing isn t really a great concept anyway if you happen to be a vegetarian, which Becky is. However, in the Pantanal (Brazil), the largest wetland area in South America, in rivers teeming with them, who could resist such excitement? Alex wasn t fazed by it at all and knew exactly how to coax it away (by ...

The Wandering Withers: November 2006

Jacob Withers Rules the World! Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Photo Of The Week( from the WW archives). This one, now taken about eleven months ago was whilst we were at Varanasi in India. This place, one of my favorites, more than any other place in India really sums up what travel is all about - seeing somewhere different. All the action in Varanasi is centred on the ghats - steps down to the river and in this case the very heavily poluted Ganges. The city itself is also a hotbed of activity, and fortunat...

The Wandering Withers: December 2006
http://wandwith.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Jacob Withers Rules the World! Wednesday, December 20, 2006. POTW - 'Bumps in the Night'. Last night, at about threeish in the morning Becky and I were woken briefly by what seemed to be a crash in our waredrobe. Next day when I got home from work (and another traipse round the shops Christmas shopping) and after investigating it turned out that a change in temperature after the boiler stopped caused the door to open, apparently the magnets are weak. I hoped it was a friendly ghost if there was one.
