the trivial case: It would be like traveling through time backwards, but only on your head
http://trivialcase.blogspot.com/2011/04/it-would-be-like-traveling-through-time.html
A good place to start. Friday, April 29, 2011. It would be like traveling through time backwards, but only on your head. Everyone I've ever known has had a haircut at some point in their life, and I imagine this is true for you as well. There may be someone out there who was born hairless and as they aged sprouted not a single strand of hair on their head. I write this blog post fully aware that I risk alienating this section of humanity, should they happen to exist. Imagine an experiment in which the su...

Movement and Maps: April 2011
http://sharingsomelife.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Downtown Los Angeles, oddly shaped maps, and me. Saturday, April 30, 2011. Could you get your dog to stop barking? Said some neighbor of mine at ohh 1:30am this morning, "it's really loud.". There was indeed a dog barking. My brain decided sleeping was so not the thing to do after the human got to barking, err trying to get the dog to quiet down. I had been dreaming about, balancing plates, on my hands? There was some sort of competition? Better I woke up fully anyway. Saturday, April 2, 2011. I'd never ...

Movement and Maps: May 2011

Downtown Los Angeles, oddly shaped maps, and me. Monday, May 30, 2011. Observations on the West's landscape from a plane. The Grand Canyon appeared below us as we flew into Phoenix from Boise. Photo courtesy of Bill. After flying into Phoenix, from Boise, where we attended a wedding for Bill's grad school friend, we got on a smaller plane to Burbank. Still! Yet I find them soothing to observe. I'm in Los Angeles today: It smells like an airport runway. I'm in Los Angeles today:. Sunday, May 22, 2011.

Movement and Maps: December 2010
http://sharingsomelife.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Downtown Los Angeles, oddly shaped maps, and me. Friday, December 24, 2010. Walking around after downtown LA after dinner last night Bill said, "Let's go to the book store and the art store before we head home, we are going to make a Christmas tree.". OK," I said, as we crossed the street in the direction of these stores. Bill went up to the man sitting behind the register and said, "I'd like to buy this book for one dollar.". I'll sell it to you for 50 cents," responded the man, laughing. Bill and I wen...

Leap and the Net will Appear. Where in the world are we? Monday, May 30, 2011. Traveler Profile - Sylvie. I met Sylvie in my cooking class in Hoi An, Vietnam. French is her first language but she spoke English quite well. Brian deemed Sylvie and I “soul sisters” because we had many things in common and got along swimmingly from the get go. We hope to visit her soon in Montreal when we return to the states :). Name, Age and Country of origin. Can you tell me how long you’ve been traveling? What can I say?

the trivial case: Towels
http://trivialcase.blogspot.com/2011/04/towels.html
A good place to start. Thursday, April 7, 2011. My towel ritual was developed out of necessity. Drying off after a shower, I would find long hairs from my head now stuck to my torso and legs. I realized that it was my technique which was causing this. I was using the same part of my towel to soak water from my head as well as my body. Something needed to be done. For the rest, I flip the towel around, like so:. How does this relate to math? How does this relate to art? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Leap and the Net will Appear: October 2010

Leap and the Net will Appear. Where in the world are we? Tuesday, October 26, 2010. The party everyone is invited to. Then he talked about how we all really die alone. Big stuff for college kids that just have not really thought about their own mortality at all. We learn our whole lives. It is so interesting how the amount you need/want to learn seems to increase as you get older. I remember clearly some point in my college career when I just thought, gosh is there anything else interesting to le...Espec...
