InklingArt Blog: Fig.01 Mandrake Childe
http://oddsketch.blogspot.com/2012/11/fig01-mandrake-childe.html
Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. 85x11" watercolor and gouache. I'm starting a sort of complimentary series to bottled, inspired by old naturalists like Audubon and Beatrix Potter (if you aren't familiar with her more scientific illustration work you should check it out! The series will indulge a lot of the weirder mythical critters I can find. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thanks for reading my blog! InklingArt Blog: Today in "hobbies I should probably talk about more often..."
http://oddsketch.blogspot.com/2011/12/today-in-hobbies-i-should-probably-talk.html
Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. Today in "hobbies I should probably talk about more often.". I know it's been a while since I've mentioned anything about my gaming hobby. I need to make a tag for all of my character drawings and hunt down all of the old sketches. So one of my friends is running a steampunk D&D campaign and these came out of my sketchbook as we played. The whole thing is online so we use vent and maptools to play together. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

InklingArt Blog: Fig.02 Walking Willow
http://oddsketch.blogspot.com/2012/11/fig02-walking-willow.html
Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. 85" x 11" watercolor and gouache. Another "naturalist" style fantasy creature, based on the notion that willows could pull up their roots and go for a walk. Considering the ability of clippings to put out roots, I came up with this little guy. This image was drawn and painted almost entirely while watching LoL tournaments. December 24, 2012 at 10:12 AM. InklingArt Blog: Stamp Art Fever: Frost Fae
http://oddsketch.blogspot.com/2011/12/stamp-art-fever-frost-fae.html
Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. Stamp Art Fever: Frost Fae. Ahha, they’ve previewed this design so I can show it now! This is a stamp illustration I created for a game called Stamp Art Fever. The game is all about collecting stamps, and there’s a lot of art in it. Check it out! I also did four other paintings for a small fantasy christmas themed stamp set, but this is the only one that's been shown publicly so far! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. Given that I draw a lot of skeletons I thought I'd have a little fun making an entry for "Threadless Loves Death.". Please check it out and vote! InklingArt Blog: New sketchbooks are fun.
http://oddsketch.blogspot.com/2012/03/new-sketchbooks-are-fun.html
Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. New sketchbooks are fun. I began a new sketchbook today, so have a tree golem and some monster skulls in brown micron and watercolor. Looks like the paper in this book will take a little watercolor abuse if I'm not too rough with it, so yay! April 1, 2012 at 6:33 AM. Love your fantasy illustrations! What kind of sketchbook do you use? April 3, 2012 at 10:34 PM. I just use your average sketchbooks for the most part! April 14, 2012 at 7:13 AM. I love the tree golum!

InklingArt Blog: Shipwreck Flag
http://oddsketch.blogspot.com/2012/09/shipwreck-flag.html
Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. 55 x 8 inches, watercolor. I'm including a lineart stage scan here to show that I was experimenting with a two-color drawing base. Also because it's fun (at least for me) to see how the composition evolved here. The pirate flag in this painting borrows elements from several historical flags but doesn't fully represent any design that I came across. October 6, 2012 at 8:10 AM. Will you be posting more mermaids in the future? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

InklingArt Blog: More recent art.
http://oddsketch.blogspot.com/2011/12/more-recent-art.html
Art and illustration by Emma Lazauski. A holiday card design for my parents, featuring their cats! I can't believe I forgot to post this painting to the blog! I started this personal piece about 18 months before I finished it. I had became of painting ivy and busy with professional work and it was buried under a stack of sketches for a long time. When I finally dug it up again I decided it had to be finished! It's a mock cover painting for "The Secret Garden.". October 31, 2012 at 4:27 PM.
