http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/2015/07/masterclass-melding-of-crime-and-horror.html
Monday, 13 July 2015. Masterclass melding of crime and horror. Dark tales, sinister tales, thrillers, chillers, horrors, crime and suspense - whatever you want to call them, multimillion book-selling heavyright PETER JAMES. Excells at them. But you won't need to analyse his sales figures to know this. Just check out A TWIST OF THE KNIFE. And quality is the bottom line here. Because not only does it comprise 30 (yes, you read that correctly - 30! But A TWIST OF THE KNIFE. Is somewhat different. Yes, i...

Walking in the dark: November 2014
http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 18 November 2014. Take a peek inside DEAD MAN WALKING. The pre-publication reviews for DEAD MAN WALKING. Have been pretty good so far, I’m. For anyone who hasn’t read any of the Heck books yet, and maybe needs a little encouragement,. Anyway, in case you still need some convincing, here, somewhat exclusively, is a chapter lifted freely from. And reprinted for your personal delectation (the action takes place in the isolated Lake District village of Cragwood Keld, shortly after local police offic...

Walking in the dark: Published Novels

Avon Books, HarperCollins, 2015). Buttons were being pushed as well. Finding pleasure in horrific suffering? Finding comedy value in it? There was an abnormal, and then there was super-abnormal. Of course, it all boiled down to the same thing in the end. 8216;Enjoy your sadistic gratification while you can, boys,’ Heck said to himself. ‘Time’s almost up.’. After his traumatic stint in the Lake District, Detective Sergeant Mark. Is it possible that some kind of crazy prankster is at large? A rollercoaster...

Walking in the dark: Stranger and far more hideous than fiction
http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/2015/05/stranger-and-far-more-hideous-than.html
Friday, 22 May 2015. Stranger and far more hideous than fiction. One thing that readers seem to like most about my DS Mark Heckenburg novels is the gallery of maniacs I serve up. If nothing else, I can honestly say that I’ve done my best to create a procession of twisted madmen (and women) whose crimes are never less than unspeakable but are also varied and bizarre. Unfortunately though, Heck is an imaginary character. He doesn’t really exist. And insane criminals do. 1 THE STATEN ISLAND 'CROPSEY' MURDERS.

Walking in the dark: Audio Books
http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/p/audio-books.html
During the mid 1990s, many of my short stories were collected together by Telstar Records, and re-issued as audio collections. The actors reading were pretty august - the likes of Honor Blackman, Joss Ackland, Hannah Gordon, Peter Barkworth, Peter Bowles, etc (and many others). They were released under various titles: FROM THE GRAVEYARD. In the meantime, more recent material of mine - in this first instance the stories from DON'T READ ALONE. Are also being released in audio by WHOLE STORY AUDIOBOOKS.

Walking in the dark: Movie Work
http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/p/movie-work.html
A list of my completed screenplays to date, with some information regarding their status. I consciously say almost nothing about those which are currently under option or in development as producers tend to get jumpy about writers releasing unofficial pre-publicity spoilers. THE DEVIL’S ROCK. Paul Campion, Brett Ihaka. Craig Hall, Matthew Sunderland, Gina Varela. Status - Released in 2005. Director - David Smith. Producer - Susie Brooks-Smith. Co-writers - Phil O'Shea. Status - Under option. Premise - Ar...

Walking in the dark: April 2015
http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 4 April 2015. So who is the hunter and who is the prey? It gives me great pleasure to announce that HUNTED. The fifth novel in my DS Mark ‘Heck’. Heckenburg series will be published on May 7. Rather excitingly, there will be an official launch party at Waterstones in Liverpool, during the course of which I’ll be interviewed by that inestimable man and fellow Northwest-based crime author, LUCA VESTE. Back a couple of places. And then something alighted on Dazzer's shoulder. Dazzer’s foot j...

Walking in the dark: December 2014
http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, 21 December 2014. Another year, another bunch of evil killers. Well … there’s all sorts to talk about as we close out 2014, which has been yet another year I won’t forget easily. But I’m aware that it’s almost Christmas and you’ll have lots of other more important things to do than sit here dreaming alongside me, so I’ll try and make this quick. First of all, check out the image on the left – that’s the final cover for HUNTED. Here is the official blurb from the back of the book …. Accidents do h...

Walking in the dark: Doctor Who
http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/p/doctor-who.html
Since 2007, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to classify myself as one of those rarest of creatures, a Doctor Who writer. The first time I ever put pen to paper in honour of the venerable Time Lord was when Steve Savile, a close friend of mine (and a very fine author in his own right) invited me to contribute to a Doctor Who anthology he was editing for that indefatigable company, Big Finish, called Short Trips: Destination Prague. STRANGERS IN THE OUTLAND. Published by BBC Books. Who exactly are th...
