Friday, April 21, 2017. Bass River Bridge, Cape Cod. Bass River Bridge is one of the Cape's more familiar landmarks. Within sight of the bridge I've fished for flounder and striped bass, dragged for bay scollops and hauled eel pots. It was too cold and windy to smell the sun-warmed docks. So far only the Yarmouth Police or Marine Fisheries were in the water. Nothing south of the bridge either. Familiar sights on the north side of the bridge. Views across, and up the river. Joseph Merrill Memorial Park.

Bob's Blog: June 2010

http://www.bobberrio.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 28, 2010. Awhile back there was an event devoted to students young and old. For days before the monks were busy putting up displays and constructing bamboo and thatched roof huts for hands-on learning. On the day of the event the temple grounds was a sea of students- all dressed in colorful traditional tribal clothing- It was quite the spectacle! Boiled rice with chicken, and it's a morning staple much like oatmeal or cream of wheat might be for us properly raised New Englanders! The little ...

Monday, July 19, 2010. Happy Angels- A Wat Suan Dok Compendium. I live in a traditional and fascinating Thai neighborhood! It's much like many others- a vital, organic, bustling microcosm of one aspect of Thai culture and family life, but it is also unique- because of Wat Suan Dok. For the neighborhood and the surrounding community the temple is a key source of financial support. Early in the morning vendors arrive and set up their snack, drink and school supply stands on the wat grounds. They ca...Brows...

Bob's Blog: May 2010

http://www.bobberrio.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 27, 2010. Duong, Wat Suan Dok and Hippie Bob. Duong in the center with good friends Dave and Ao. This was not long after we met last August and she was still trying to figure out what I was all about. Dave taught math on Long Island for 30 years, retired here and shares his life with Ao. Well a few years have slipped by for all of us, we have. Around, and I have done some "maturing! Well I'm psyched that I've been able to do this much today- more later! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Bob's Blog: August 2010

http://www.bobberrio.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 20, 2010. Monks- In Search of the Good Heart. From a certain viewpoint, religion is a little bit of a luxury. If you have religion, very good; even without religion you can survive and you can manage, but without human affection we can't survive. The Dalai Lama delivered these remarks almost 20 years ago, on September 14th, 1990, at a four day symposium on religion and the environment hosted by Middlebury College in Vermont. The stage was set with a long table, facing the audience, for per...
