Cryptography blog: The art and science of (my) indecipherable writing. 31 August, 2005. There's an illustration showing of the evolution of the internal state in an MD5 hash collision. I really need to sit down at some point and make the effort to understand the technical details of the MD5 collision attack. Here's the reference:. Cipher Text: January 2007
http://cipher-text.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Cryptography blog: The art and science of (my) indecipherable writing. 01 January, 2007. The film itself, something of a Da Vinci Code. Style adventure starring Nicolas Cage, wasn't that great. However, it had some fun DVD extras. One was a short featurette on codes and ciphers, and in the background were various things flying about, including a few rather obscure historical cipher machines; none of these machines were mentioned in the featurette itself. There isn't a lot to tell from this picture, other than it looks a little staged. It looks like the Enigma operator is using two hands, which would probably require some practice. Penn and Teller Bullet Trick. Enigma lamps (or "bulbs" as we tend to say these days) are shorter than modern lamps. You cannot use modern lamps in an Enigma because they are too tall; they will push through the plastic "lamp window" sheet. Refer to the main Enigma page for pictures of the lamp windows.
