http://saracoggins.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 28, 2014. It was the first time any of us had actually visiting this National Park. What a beautiful way to spend a day off! Saturday, May 24, 2014. We also try to incorporate fine motor skills into our activities. It is fun to see each child figure out how to do things on his own. They are very curious and good problem solvers when given permission to explore. It is fun to be a part of this! Friday, May 16, 2014. Friday, May 9, 2014. Sunday, May 4, 2014. Thursday, May 1, 2014. Monday, April 28, 2014. Ray of Hope Update. Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Nurdaulet's first A (written without help). Nurdaulet's family and friends (we were invited over to lunch). Below are just a few of the things I have learned from Nurdaulet and his family:. Keep working at something and eventually it will make sense. Laughter doesn't need any translation. So much of a child's ability to accomplish the seemingly impossible is based on encouragement from family and friends. Monday, April 21, 2014. Every...

Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Monday, January 20, 2014. Extending New Years - Eating Pineapple. Additionally, we were able to buy some fruit to enjoy together. Over the last several months,. I have realized that although they might have eaten pineapple before, they don’t know what it looks like. As a result, I took whole fruit (pineapple, apple, orange, and banana) and cut the fruit in front of them giving them some to try. They all really liked pineapple and now realize what it looks like before it is cut.

Adventures in Muncie: March 2014
http://saracoggins.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Good Thing I'm a Pyro. I have found that almost every oven/stove in Kazakhstan has a trick to making it work. We mostly cook with gas, but only the newer models self-light. As a result, we have to get a bit creative as our ovens age. Here's the process I go through to light my stove. 2 Lift metal part separating oven from the flame. 3 Set match down on the pipe that provides gas. 4 Turn oven on. 5 Adjust temperature (by approximate feel of the flame). 6 Cook some yummy food.

http://saracoggins.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Wednesday, March 11, 2015. I returned back from a great visit to Kazakhstan in early February. Since then, I have been doing some subbing, setting up life here in Muncie, as well as doing things around the house to get more settled. In the last week, I have been able to set up my internet as well as purchase a car. Things are definitely coming together quickly, although at times it feels kind of slow. Here are some pictures of what I've been working on. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, June 14, 2014. We recently purchased a new item to help with our physical therapy. The Upsee. Came on the market in April and we have been waiting patiently to receive ours. It came with our Saramoldaeva delegation and we have had the chance to use it with one child, David, a few times since its arrival. Monday, June 2, 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Adventures in Muncie: November 2013
http://saracoggins.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 14, 2013. Overall, this week has been a crazy, busy week. Here are just a few things I have done. Met with a 49 year-old man who has no legs and only one arm who was requesting a wheelchair. Gave a wheelchair to a 14-year-old boy, after spending some time with he and his mother and brother. Introduced the children at the foster home for kids with disabilities to the iPad. Met with a man who tried to encourage me to allow him to read my past and future and then heal me of any problems.

Friday, February 28, 2014. Bringing Bingo to Kazakhstan. It was fun to watch my English club members as they interacted. They were nervous at first and didn't really know how to begin conversations with the people they met. However, towards the end, they all seemed really comfortable. When we left we had several people asking if we would come back again. See more pictures on Interlink's Facebook Page. Saturday, February 22, 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
