The thoughts and games of ageing wargamers. Friday, 29 January 2016. True to his word Henry very kindly reviewed our blog in Minature Wargames with Battlegames in issue 394 (February 2016). We are new to the world of 'blogging' and Jack, Bob and I are very flattered and grateful for his kind words. Of course 'Kitten Force' are purring all the way to the fish counter! Links to this post. The thoughts and games of ageing wargamers. Friday, 23 September 2016. Another 28mm ACW Black Powder Game. Hangman's Creek Scenario from the Black Powder Rules. For those who don't know it, the scenario is basically a surprise attack by 3 Confederate Brigades across a wide front on the Union forces. The Union troops have a brigade in a camp on the left flank, another to the south of the town of Hangman's Creek in the centre (. But off the table). 4 Infantry Regts (including pickets). The Zouavre pickets ...

Waterloo to Mons : December 2014
http://waterlootomons.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 29 December 2014. I could not let 2014 without at least one more post. Here are the only figures I have managed to paint in two months, the lovely N1 Naval Brigade Sailor advancing. Jacklex 20mm sailors from HMS Nostalgia! I am going for "look good en mass" appeal, but with output currently at less than a figure a week it is going to take some imagination at the moment! So, Happy New Year to you all and I will be back in early 2015. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hinton Hunt Vintage Wargame Figures.

abc wargamers: S Range Sardinian Lancer Conversion
http://abcwargamers.blogspot.com/2017/01/s-range-sardinian-lancer-conversion.html
The thoughts and games of ageing wargamers. Sunday, 8 January 2017. S Range Sardinian Lancer Conversion. I liked the look of a Sardinian Lancer in a helmet for my Allied Crimean War forces, so set about converting a FPW French Dragoon. The figure would also work as a Lancer for the Italian Wars of unification. I also tried the same conversion using a Carabineer, but I think both the helmet and the crest are too high, although the horse furniture is nearer the mark. 8 January 2017 at 11:45. The Lone S Ran...

Waterloo to Mons : September 2014
http://waterlootomons.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, 28 September 2014. I have finally finished the remaining Pax Britannica/RSM 95 ACW figures. A restrained pose for the Southern cavaliers I think. This marks the last of the commission work and so I am able to say whatever comes next is all for me.hooray! I will start by adding to the 1914 British and will probably not return to the "War Between the States" chapter until the New Year when I pick up on those Western theatre 10mm figures started in the Spring. Waterloo to Mons : October 2014
http://waterlootomons.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 27 October 2014. Bringing Up the Guns. I finally have something new to show for October.hoorah! 18pdr Limber and Crew from the Tumbling Dice "Old Contemptibles" 20mm range. Hopefully things will calm down after a while otherwise my (already slow) painting output will become positively glacial. For now though I have a few more 1914 German infantry prepped and ready for painting-hopefully finished before I go back to work next week. Labels: Battle of Mons. Wednesday, 8 October 2014. Next up will be...

Waterloo to Mons : March 2015
http://waterlootomons.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 31 March 2015. Second Box of Soldiers Complete! The second box of Revell British artillery is finished and packed off heading for the Battle of Waterloo diorama. I am now working on some rather lovely Hinton Hunt British for Ian and Roy's Battle of Waterloo re-fight. I plan to get some of my own ACW and Colonial figures painted up before I return to more plastic artillery for the diorama. Hopefully the Bank Holiday weekend will produce some more pictures. Labels: Battle of Waterloo. While it may...

The thoughts and games of ageing wargamers. Tuesday, 16 August 2016. 15mm Napoleonic Ottomans and Russians A Black Powder Game. One of the most popular posts on our blog are the pictures I posted last year of my 15mm Napoleonic Ottoman Turks. I have added a few extra units so Bob and I decided to give them an outing against my 15mm Warrior Miniatures Russians, who have also gained a few extra units. Suveri with Cossack and irregular cavalry skirmishing out front. The right was made up of the Sultan's Gua...
