Defining Moments | Body Language

Just another WordPress.com site. Books are a Girl’s Best Friend. May 2, 2014. Many years ago, I went to a wedding, and at dinner, sat next to a woman with a toddler on her lap. The child did some kind of toddler-thing, and an object from the table a salt-shaker, I think went flying. I caught it in mid-air and placed it out of harm’s way, while the conversation continued. Well then, you’ll make a very good mother, she concluded, beaming. The question of having kids was never. And this is one of the many r...

Just another WordPress.com site. Newer posts →. Precious Cargo in Preggoland. May 13, 2015. Warning: I’m about to say how much I liked the movie Preggoland. And why. To save yourself a number of spoilers you could just go and see it yourself. At the early show on Saturday night, there were only six people in the audience, three of whom I knew. This should not happen in the spring, to a sweet, smart comedy in the discerning city of Toronto. Oh and by the way, it’s Canadian film. See it! These films all cu...

Just another WordPress.com site. Precious Cargo in Preggoland →. April 21, 2015. Imagine my dismay last week when I found a line-up of nonplussed, not-quite-awake patrons snaking through the aisles of a newly renovated Foodland. It became clear my posterior would most definitely not be in the seat by 9:30, as planned. On duty. And for some reason, he’d been left alone to check out the groceries of a whole store-full of people, all marinating in their own particular Monday-morning anxieties. Of course, it...

The Lazy Left-Wing Gardener. Looking Back to the Fall Garden. December 31, 2016. In mid-November the garden was still going strong. Thanks to microclimates this pepper plant (photographed earlier) survived light frosts against a south facing wall. I bent leaves around to hide the fruit from frost and hungry raccoons. There were fig trees galore, and a delicious fruit that grew indoors! While I’m fascinated by the relationship between wasps and figs. It‘s another great option for balcony and indoor farmers.

One of my very favourite aspects about our new house is the fact that it backs onto a conservation area. As soon as we pulled up to look at the house, I saw the treeline in the backyard and envisioned sitting on the deck in the sun, conversing with the beautiful woodland creatures. View From Five Feet. Meat vs. Veg. 30 is the Magic Number (But Not Really). August 23, 2012 in Uncategorized. Music to Write By:. Timber Timbre Black Water. Since being laid off in May, I’ve had a fair amount of time to think about things. Lots of things. Things like cooking and cleaning and career and what it means to be in your 30s. The name, Slieve League, we learned, has nothing to do with any kind of league: It’s simply the Anglicised version of the Irish, Sliabh Liag, which means, Mountain of Flagstones.
