TrailSavvy: Gear Review: Osprey Exos 46 Backpack
http://www.trailsavvy.net/2012/09/gear-review-osprey-exos-46-backpack.html
MYOG(Make Your Own Gear). Monday, September 3, 2012. Gear Review: Osprey Exos 46 Backpack. Image property of Osprey Packs Inc. The first of these is my first "lightweight" backpack. The Osprey Exos Series Packs. Have been around since at least 2009. That's when I purchased mine from REI. I was looking to reduce the weight of my "big 3" even back then. I had no idea of being an ultralighter, but my frame backpacks were 6 lbs. and 8 lbs. Something had to give. Will posing, as only Will can do. Thank you fo...

TrailSavvy: March 2011
http://www.trailsavvy.net/2011_03_01_archive.html
MYOG(Make Your Own Gear). Wednesday, March 30, 2011. I was impressed with how easy to talk to they (nearly) all seemed to be. It was interesting to hear their stories. Each of us had our favorites, but we are pulling for each of them to finish the trail. And we were all insanely jealous to only be on the trail with them for a week, when they get all summer. Links to this post. Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Trip Planning; Evolution of an idea. Very little communication. Independent research. Scopa calls the N...

TrailSavvy: December 2011
http://www.trailsavvy.net/2011_12_01_archive.html
MYOG(Make Your Own Gear). Monday, December 26, 2011. I'm piggybacking a great post from Hendrik Morkel at HikinginFinland.com. I am usually loathe to do such a thing, but he actually encouraged me to. Well, it's a post, and not just a comment. In Hendrik's post, he actually did some analysis on the efficiency of menu planning without a stove. Weight vs. weight. What could be gleaned from this very un-scientific analysis? Yes It has been proven. By a guy with 2 thumbs. This guy! Where can I get my hike in...

TrailSavvy: October 2011
http://www.trailsavvy.net/2011_10_01_archive.html
MYOG(Make Your Own Gear). Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Legends trip to the Bob. Jake backed up against the Rockies. Said he, "Let's do the Chinese Wall". We each went to work trying to arrange the trip. I was disappointed to find that he wouldn't be able to take leave(he's USAF) until mid-September. Bummer. By then, the southern heat would be dissipating. I mean, that's the beginning of Ozark-ian prime season. Too late. I'd already made up my mind. What gear would we need to purchase? About mile number 1...

TrailSavvy: August 2011
http://www.trailsavvy.net/2011_08_01_archive.html
MYOG(Make Your Own Gear). Friday, August 5, 2011. Is hosting this month's Outdoor Blog Carnival. The theme for the month is "Dream Hike". The apparent founder of the OBC, Ross from Pure Outside. Invited me to participate. By Twitter direct message no less. I was thrilled with the opportunity to participate. So out came the bucket list. Careful thought removed some of my plans. Then, as the un-original guy that I am, the hair pulling that is creative thought. Alaska, Peru, the Alps? Now called the Oregon ...
