A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Saturday, March 24, 2012. After a horrid morning, I finally made it to the Barbican to see the new Art of Fishing shop there. Its very cool indeed, and I was glad to meet and chat to Matt Newcombe of Plymouth Lure Fishing. Ben Field the Art of Fishing. Owner . Very patient and helpful guys right there. After buying a few bits and some new line. Even though I swore I wouldn't spend anything. Another one for the species list :-). Thursday, March 08, 2012.

This Fishing Life: November 2011
http://thisfishinglife.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Wednesday, November 09, 2011. The Great Sea Fishing Lure Rationalise. I have lots of Pike lures, but that's OK, as I'm targeting just that one species so need lots of choice, plus I'm not exactly trudging down cliffs to get to them. On the other hand, I have a lot of Bass and sea lures, but DO need to climb down cliffs. So I decided to pare down my collection to the essentials. Here's how I got on. My Bass Lures started out like this. Odds stacked against m...

This Fishing Life: July 2011
http://thisfishinglife.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Friday, July 29, 2011. Chased big carp again in our local pond. Heavy gear, standard running ledgers, bigger boilies. Fresh freezer baits too. Cell, Grange, and Black Snail. However, we didn't hit anything like our target, we didn't even get a double. I ended up having x5 carp, x2 under tree on Cell. x2 off island on Grange, and x1 stalking on bread, all about 5lb to 8lb. Oddly, Mike blanked, yet he was sat next to me on similar baits and rigs. The real poi...

This Fishing Life: Books
http://thisfishinglife.blogspot.com/p/books.html
A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. How to Fish" - Chris Yates. Publisher: Hamish Hamilton Ltd (28 Sep 2006). I can thoroughly recommend it. Its different to the majority of fishing books, as its not exactly a manual, but a journey with the author on his love of fishing and what we as anglers get out of it. Its a wonderful, pleasant walk along the bank in the true ethos of what angling is about. The Secret Carp - Chris Yates (modern printing). Catch Carp and Tench - John Wilson. Fox guide to ...

A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Sunday, March 03, 2013. Taking my Boss on First Fishing Trip. My Boss must have got sick of hearing me prattle on about fishing all the time at work. He finally gave in and came with me, his first ever fishing trip. I chose my local pond for ease of teaching, with basic single bait ledgering to start off simple. Saturday, March 02, 2013. Daisys First fishing trip! She loved it, and hasn't stopped talking about it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

This Fishing Life: June 2014
http://thisfishinglife.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Friday, June 06, 2014. Daisy wanted to come fishing with me again, so armed with her disney princess rod, we went after some perch. She was very happy indeed :-). She was brilliant and actually sat and fished with me for 3 hours, feeding the carp on the surface and dropping in loose feed for the perch. Darn good for a 4 year old! She loved all the flowers and the wildlife too :-). Wednesday, June 04, 2014. Club Lake margin carping. 6lb on homemade zig.

A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Thursday, May 31, 2012. A brief hour down at Elphinstone with the LRF kit. Took a mate of mine James who's never fished before, but try as we might he didnt get any hook ups, but still enjoyed it. Met another chap down there LRFing and compared plastics :-). I had a couple small pollock which was nice to at least feel the rod bend (or wiggle in this case). Thursday, May 24, 2012. A brief evening jaunt to my local pond. Thursday, May 03, 2012. This Fishing Life: October 2011
http://thisfishinglife.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Thursday, October 27, 2011. Shore Trip - Hannafore Point. Whilst thinking about going sea fishing and checking the tides, I noticed that whilst high tide was at 6pm on a day I had off, 6pm was also the time of sunset, and the time of moon set. The same day was also the calm after a strong blow, so a trip was nailed into the diary. It looked great, choppy, colored, clear spots amongst weed, but despite all this we blanked. Now either he was there because he ...

This Fishing Life: January 2015
http://thisfishinglife.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
A Diary of irregular and diverse fishing trips. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Daisy and I had another trip to our local pond this week, seeing if there were any Perch about given how cold its been getting. Using my LRF rod and Daisys princess rod we managed to winkle out a couple small ones, and this rather nice stripey of about half a pound or so I'm guessing. Was great fun and Daisy loved it.
