Saturday, October 15, 2011. He said. "You think you speak French badly, but you speak it well." He thanked me emphatically for my help and told me to "gardez le sourire," to keep smiling. I could hear him saying "Bonjour, les enfants, et gardez le sourire! To others as he hurried down the street in front of me. Gardez le sourire" is contrary to all things I read about France before I came here. These are indeed the things that make me smile and forget that I walked to and from the supermarket quite alone.
