Finding Poetics: March 2013
http://www.bookishbethany.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 20, 2013. It's beneficial that I really love to write in notebooks and journals. But it's not as beneficial when it takes longer to write out a thought which sometimes leads me to forget "strokes of genius" wordplay, or rather, my thoughts in general. Has that ever happened to you? As for my reading, I'm currently reading book 2 of The Brotherband Chronicles: The Invaders. John Flanagan is a writer I discovered probably about 2 years ago, which is a shame I took so long to discover him&#...
Finding Poetics: Your Writer's Bible
http://www.bookishbethany.blogspot.com/p/your-writers-bible.html
This, and the following pictures, show my Writer's Bible. As you can see, I had a little fun in decorating my binder, but I've had it now for several years (yes, I have an eclectic taste). My bible has gone through several transformations and will probably go through several more before the binder is completely worn out. Don't be afraid to refresh your bible from time to time with new inspirations. As your writing progresses, so will your bible. Please see below for more pictures. And last, but not least...
Finding Poetics: February 2015
http://www.bookishbethany.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 20, 2015. Running, Always Running. Running in the darkness. Music in my ears. The breeze pulling back my hair. When I close my eyes, I can see the nebulae birthing solar systems, planets teeming with life: lush plants, rushing green waters, small fish and animals rushing to and fro. The world is tangible. I can touch it, smell it, feel it beneath my running feet. I want to see it all. Monday, February 16, 2015. A little water and a lot of work. In writing world, much has happened, but mu...
Finding Poetics: May 2012
http://www.bookishbethany.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 7, 2012. The Philosophy of Aristotle. There are many things that I have learned this past semester, including that while I may have confidence issues with myself, to have them with my writing as I have in the past, is a detriment to my publication status. Since I've realized this, I've been working to put my insecurities aside and write, create, and more than anything submit my writing to contests and magazines. And Stephen King On Writing. Spring cleaning has been my major priority for the l...
Finding Poetics: November 2013
http://www.bookishbethany.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 15, 2013. Anti-Collaboration and a Mess of Epiphanies. So I'm guessing no one cares to ask me anything, or at least, come forward and ask. That's alright anyway, I'm extremely shy and very protective of my work. However, I'm ready to begin coming out of my shell. It is bugging me that I still have so far to go in my writing journey. I just sat reading a book written by John Flanagan (. The Brotherband Chronicles, book 2: The Invaders. Why am I not published yet? Fear It's not to say that...

This Woman's Musings. Thoughts on living life and stuff. April 23, 2015 in Poetry. This man knows things. Let’s call him Alexander. Sometimes we work together, and when we do, I can safely bet that I will not get everything done on my agenda, because instead of doing the things, I will be listening to the man. And he will be telling me stories. I imagine these negative spaces they look like 3D images of polypeptides, captured by invisible boundaries. Click to email (Opens in new window). One for the Birds.

Lent and Psychedelics | This Woman's Musings
https://interpretartistmama.wordpress.com/2015/02/23/lent-and-psychedelics
This Woman's Musings. Thoughts on living life and stuff. February 23, 2015 in Postulates. Recently I came across an interesting article. On the reemergence of psychedelic treatment for terminally ill patients. The treatment involves administration of controlled doses of psilocybin, the active chemical in psychedelic mushrooms and other hallucinogens of the 1960’s and ‘70’s, to help those facing their end of life to live their last months with a renewed sense of peace and well-being. And so I return back ...

Exploring with Beth
Thursday, August 6, 2015. Mount Saint Helens - to the summit! After seven months of training and over 100 miles on the trails, I was as ready as I was going to be for Mount Saint Helens. My friend Julie got ten permits (100 people per day get to go for the summit in the summer time) and there were six of us from Portland and four from Seattle. Every hiking party has to sign in and out, so they know if they have to come looking for you. View of Mount Adams. 1/3 slight elevation climb along a forested trail.
Once the Bookish Bimbo
Once the Bookish Bimbo. Life is a succession of lessons, which must be lived to be understood." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Friday, November 09, 2012. I'm so tired of the countless things that make me feel resentful, especially since I can't do a thing about most of them. Thinking about it though, I realize that I am even more tired of being resentful; and that is something I have control over. So tonight I'll try to let it go. Tomorrow I hope I'll be able to try again, and also the day after that. I once was l...
