Book Reviews: A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah
http://bookreviewsbymaya.blogspot.com/2010/05/long-way-gone-memoirs-of-boy-soldier-by.html
Tuesday, May 25, 2010. A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah. This is a true autobiographical story. Ishmael Beah was twelve when he fled the rebel attacks on his home in Sierra Leone, and he was thirteen when a government camp handed him an AK-47 and turned him into a soldier. This story tells of the war-torn land he was forced to wander to survive and his experiences as a child soldier in a bloody, merciless war. Labels: A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. My Top Rated Books.
Book Reviews: February 2014

Sunday, February 9, 2014. The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey. The first wave: lights out. The second wave: surf's up. The third wave: pestilence. The fourth wave: Silencer. Now the fifth wave dawns, and Cassie is alone on an empty stretch of highway, running from the Others. She has long since learned the lesson: trust no one, because They look human. But she might be the only real human left. Before I begin, I should mention that I read an advance reader copy of The Fifth Wave. Well, I am now. The book i...
Book Reviews: Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
http://bookreviewsbymaya.blogspot.com/2013/12/every-other-day-by-jennifer-lynn-barnes.html
Friday, December 27, 2013. Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. The decision to make hellhounds an endangered species was beyond asinine, but I expected nothing less from a government that had bankrolled not one, but two, endowed chairs in preternatural biology (one of them my father's) at the University That Shall Not Be Named.". The plot was a great idea, but the characters and the unrealistic results kind of ruined it for me. I won't be reading the rest of the books. My Top Rated Books.
Book Reviews: Laika by Nick Abadzis
http://bookreviewsbymaya.blogspot.com/2012/05/laika-by-nick-abadzis.html
Monday, May 7, 2012. Laika by Nick Abadzis. This graphic novel is based on the true story of a dog sent to outer space in the Russian rocket Sputnik II. Nick Abadzis added fictional details as well as beautiful drawings to blend several perspectives of the story. Laika and the humans in her life will capture your heart. I am a man of destiny. I will not die.". Is a truly beautiful story. I rate this graphic novel a ten out of ten. May 7, 2012 at 9:44 PM. High praise, dear daughter! My Top Rated Books.
Book Reviews: The Help by Kathryn Stockett
http://bookreviewsbymaya.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-help-by-kathryn-stockett.html
Tuesday, November 13, 2012. The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This tells the stories of several black maids working in white households amidst the racism of 1960's Mississippi and one young white woman who wants to learn their perspectives. Together they gain courage and support while working to change their community for the better. Mae Mobley was born on an early Sunday morning in August, 1960.". I rate The Help. A 10 out of 10. I definitely recommend this book. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Madi's Book Reviews
Wednesday, January 20, 2016. The Mortal Instruments series has finally become a TV show! I still have to read books 2-6 but I'm still a fan of the series! I'm currently reading City of Ashes so I'll get to the last book someday! Anyway.About the TV show.I have mixed feelings.I'm not sure how I feel about their choice of actors:. Like, she was running in the rain and before it got wet it was all perfect curls and everything and then, after? It looked exactly the same! I still liked their choice for Alec&#...

Book Reviews by Melica Niccole
Book Reviews by Melica Niccole. Saturday, June 27, 2015. Picture found on Amazon.com. Received 5 out of 5 stars. By Linda Fondren was a great book that included her methods in assisting her hometown (Vicksburg, Mississippi) in losing 15,000 lbs in 17 weeks. It was also somewhat of a transformation story of Linda's challenging past, which equated to a prosperous future. Some of the things I loved about the book was how she. Emphasized a lifestyle change over dieting. In recently reading the book Thrive.

READY, SET, READ!
READY, SET, READ! Friday, August 14, 2015. See eye to eye)? Ah well, at least Michael still gets on well with his old FBI friend, Emily Parker. As the search begins to zero in on the culprits, some of their "aha" moments test the limits of believability, but the action never slows down and I read the whole thing in almost record time. Alert by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge (Little, Brown and Co., August 2015); 400 pp. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. No satisfactory answer turned up, but not wanting to t...

Book Reviews from the Moon
BOOK REVIEWS FROM THE MOON. Sunday, December 1, 2013. March to the Sea. March to the Sea had it's good points. I enjoy the characters. Having said that, I felt the first section of this book was merely good. I feared Prince Roger and Sgt. Despro (not sure of the spelling, sorry) would dominate too much of the story, but that proved a needless concern. As in the first book, the Marines are required to advance local technology, this time adding riffles, artillery, and blue water ships to the mix. So I was ...
