http://oldfirehousebooks.blogspot.com/2014/01/collecting-books.html

Anyway, since I work at a bookstore…. I own a lot of books. The problem is as follows. GREAT used book comes in, and I MUST have it, because it is a HARDCOVER version of DUBLINERS and I only have a cheap PAPERBACK version. NEW book comes in that everyone at the bookstore has read and loves loves loves, I’ll take one of everything,.

Old Firehouse Books Blog: July 2013
http://oldfirehousebooks.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 26, 2013. Write what you know. Greetings my Firehouse friends. Let's have a discussion, shall we? I was perusing my Facebook wall the other day and came across a post by The Writer's Circle. They posed this question:. Should writers stick to the subjects they know best or become familiar with new ones? So much to talk about! That being said, writers are likely to dabble in a lot of different areas and explore a lot of different things that will likely show up in their writing somewhere.

Old Firehouse Books Blog: How To: survive college in a few simple reads
http://oldfirehousebooks.blogspot.com/2014/02/how-to-survive-college-in-few-simple.html
Saturday, February 15, 2014. How To: survive college in a few simple reads. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Totally not what you would expect a history buff to read, but as my current fiction this book rocks! It is well written, with beyond the whole vampire thing, few historical mess-ups. As long as you take it for fun, love a narration with flourishing characters, and need something different to enjoy, this is a book for you! The Signature of All Things. If you are really overwhelmed this is a great r...

Summer Science: Mixing & Snow. Mixing and snow were two separate toddler/preK programs, but for the sake of getting the post done, I’m combining them. Well…that and mixing was somewhat of a flop (entirely my fault). All of my toddler/preK programs were well attended, and we’ll finish off the summer with an “arty party” at the end of the month. The idea for this program came from T. He Show Me Librarian’s. ALSC blog post about Chemistry Science. I started off by reading. 1 Fireworks in a Glass. 8211; I pu...

Read with us and ride with us. Ride 3: Word Games and World’s Best Witbier. November 17, 2013. Abandoning the goal of meeting once a week, we have set a more realistic goal of meeting once a month. For the third meeting, we read an excerpt from Maya Angelou’s autobiography, drank a new beer at Guthrie’s, and rode home in the rain. She gave me some samples, which was great, and I ordered a Blanche de Chambly, another witbier, because it tasted good and sounded fancy. My standards for beer aren’t yet v...
