My hope is, through my work as a Literacy Coach, working with teachers on literacy instruction both in the classroom and during PD days, I’ll be able to spread my love for literacy and literacy instruction to others. Teachers are the ones doing the teaching, right? Ask any kindergarten teacher you know (or yoursel...

The Chronicles of a First Year Counselor: September 2014
http://afirstyearcounselor.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 5, 2014. Our district has a HUGE push this year for teaching core values. We will focus on 2 values each 9 weeks, beginning with Respect and Responsibility (R&R). The teachers are actually responsible for teaching 3 core value lessons every 3 weeks. I LOVE this! Since I cannot be in the rooms every week for guidance, I think it is great that students will get regular reminders and lessons on these important character traits. Daily quotes and challenges on the morning announcements.

The Chronicles of a First Year Counselor: July 2014
http://afirstyearcounselor.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Here is a glimpse into my office that caused me many-a-sleepless nights. This panoramic is a little dark and blurry. The rest is what the previous counselor left. I went through about 3 piles of binders, books and files this size. I found quite a few things from the early 90s! Saturday, July 26, 2014. I plan on posting some ...

And it's free! A fun way to check in with students as they come into the counseling office. (Of course I made it to match my office color theme! August 27, 2014 at 7:49 PM. Oh it turned out so good! OK Counselor's Crossing: Threshhold of testing
http://okcounselorscrossing.blogspot.com/2015/03/threshhold-of-testing.html
My journey as a PreK-12th grade school counselor in a rural school located in the south central part of the US! Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Last week was my week in the elementary. Between that, testing duties, pantry, book club and seeing individual students, it was quite a week! Scholarships are coming in almost one on top of another. This is great, though I'm not sure our students are taking full advantage of the information. We are on our last official college week. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
