The Bookworm's Stitchery

Friday, 31 July 2009. I am sorry I neglected you for so long. Life happens. And blogging knitting projects sometimes doesn't. I have been knitting, mainly socks, which I discovered are addictive. I have also made a couple of cardigans for Little Cherub since I last posted. Normal blogging service is now resumed. Or, at least, that is my intention! Friday, 19 December 2008. I love this petal dishcloth made by Linh at A Girl in Georgia. Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. I had some left over yarn, and ...

The Bookworm's Stitchery: Mary for May

http://bookworms-stitchery.blogspot.com/2008/05/mary-for-may.html

Thursday, 1 May 2008. This week I took a quick detour from the large projects to make this little Mary figure. As Catholics we celebrate May as a month dedicated to Our Lady, and I wanted something to put into a May Basket for Little Cherub. I found a free nativity scene pattern online at Australian Women's Weekly. It can be downloaded as a PDF file here. You are so good - I always WANT to start a little knitted nativity but never think of it till about 2 weeks before Christmas! 2 May 2008 at 05:56.

The Bookworm's Stitchery: March 2008

http://bookworms-stitchery.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 19 March 2008. I got distracted by a couple of smaller projects. Project Number 1 . an Easter gift for Little Cherub. Project Number 2 . a scarf for myself, from a pattern in The Encyclopedia of Crochet Techniques. I have never done anything more than basic crochet before and was inspired by the book (a library find) to try out this fan pattern, using a very old ball of brushed DK yarn I found at the back of a cupboard. Monday, 10 March 2008. I started this sweater . So what to do instead?

Sunday, December 29, 2013. Update Number 3: Marie. As well as working hard in school Marie keeps busy outside. She has found a part time job and works as a waitress in a cafe on Saturdays. She joined A-Next-Door's gym and goes there regularly. She also likes running (though not so much in the winter! Posted by The Bookworm. Lovely colours on the cushion. The Bookworm: This Week: 24th February 2014

http://ukbookworm.blogspot.com/2014/02/this-week-24th-february-2014.html

Monday, February 24, 2014. This Week: 24th February 2014. Wet again. I am so over all this rain! My comfy snowflake pyjamas. A Country in the Moon. A supersoft pink lap blanket for Rose. I succumbed to pester power in the wool shop on Saturday. I only went in for a circular sock needle to replace my nice Knitpro one that Tevye sat on and snapped, and came out with three balls of this James C Brett Flutterby. In pale pink. It is only polyester but ridiculously soft. To Marie getting a shower. Friday: Mayb...

The Bookworm: 7 Quick Takes: 17th January 2014

http://ukbookworm.blogspot.com/2014/01/7-quick-takes-17th-january-2014.html

Friday, January 17, 2014. 7 Quick Takes: 17th January 2014. 1 I started watching Sherlock after hearing lots of recommendations. After a false start when BBC iPlayer kept cutting out on me I made it through the first episode of Series 3. I think it would have been confusing even if I had seen the first two series but despite my confusion it was gripping and I'm hooked. Tevye, on the other hand, decided it was not his thing. He also told me that it is very rare to see someone with such a "clean" diet....

The Bookworm: Immediate Book Meme

http://ukbookworm.blogspot.com/2014/02/immediate-book-meme.html

Friday, February 21, 2014. Where did the last month go? I saw this on Faith's blog. And I am long overdue a book post. 1 What book are you reading now? 2 What book did you just finish? 3 What do you plan to read next. Horace and Me: Life Lessons from an Ancient Poet, by Harry Eyres. This is a mix of memoir and paean to the Roman poet which I put on my Christmas. Wish list after my Car Buddy's enthusiasm for Horace piqued my interest. A proper hard cover book rather than an ebook for a change. Reader, wri...

Fleecy winter pyjamas and woolly socks. To go ith the 15 tog feather winter duvet which is back on our bed. Magazines. Playing with the free Zinio subscriptions available through our local library. The Bookworm: Gdansk: Part 1

http://ukbookworm.blogspot.com/2014/02/gdansk-part-1.html

Saturday, February 22, 2014. This late medieval crane overhanging the river is one of the iconic - though not very pretty! Buildings of Gdansk. Looking up from underneath you can see the two large treadmill wheels that powered it and the hook used to load and unload boats. Our hotel was on the river, just the other side of the crane. The crane is now part of the Gdansk Maritime Museum next door, which also had buildings on the opposite bank of the river. Here is a close up . Posted by The Bookworm. 2 Bea...

http://ukbookworm.blogspot.com/2013/12/gratitude.html

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. My friend Faith wrote this post. On her Household Diary blog listing ten things for which she is grateful. It inspired me to do the same. I'm taking gratitude for my family as a given and here, in no particular order, are ten more things for which I am grateful:. 4 My bedroom, which is the one place I can (sometimes) find some time alone. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Preview of "Music Down in My Soul". 65279;. Posters for the performance have been posted all over campus. Close your eyes and let it sink into you, the shadowy sweetness of the voices. It had started with a pounding thunder like the rhythm of waves heard from a cliff above the beach. Slowly it had drowned into a whisper faded from a long distance away. And then it was gone. The choirs have other performances, such as the Albany Sings! Which is based on an old Quaker hymn.
